I only get the Metz Mecablitz 24 AF-1 (probably the smallest p-ttl flash available) to work well on the K-1 in crop mode. In FF mode, all shots are massively overexposed.

Quite a lucky shot, taken close to sundown.

I tend to agree with both Sandy and Hoffo: my most frequently used lens on the K-01 is the DA 21, which has exactly the right size and focal length for everyday use. The DA 35mm f/2.4 has a value for money which can not be beaten. The DA 40mm XS is also a nice one, but is a bit long for my taste (no, not its dimension, but its focal length)

Power-on fix by FW 1.03 seems confirmed: after being switched off for more than 5 hours, my K-3 now powered on in split second...

Great news: I believe the Firmware update 1.03 has actually fixed my Power-on issue! I still need to confirm by checking long-term behaviour, but so far I was able to power-on the K-3 instantaneously, even after a 40 minutes shut off period. I will keep you posted.

I already tried cleaning the contacts with special contact cleaner-unfortunately this did not solve the Power-on issue

Unfortunately, also my power-on issue still has not been resolved with FW1.02

It has become quiet on this thread. Does this mean we are the only few with a D-BG5 grip-related power on issue or do others also suffer from this problem? In other words: who has a D-BG5 grip and never has been confronted with the power on issue?

Just for the statistics: I have the same Power-on issue, notably when the camera has been switched off for 20-30 minutes. The issue seems to disappear when using the camera outside at lower temperatures (around 7 deg. C). I just walked outside for approx. 1 hour and used the camera/grip without any problems.
Since the issue might be firmware-related, I will await an update. Apart from that, a great camera.

I took this picture of my daughter quite some time ago, during a holiday in Turkey in 2008. The composition may not be perfect, but the jump was quite good!

Hello all Pentax enthusiasts,
I am completely new to this forum and can already post a challenging technical question. After bumping with my K10D, I occasionally get a ''Memory Card Error'' message, resulting in complete shutdown of the camera or pictures not being stored. From various sources on the internet I have understood that this may be due to a contact malfunctioning of the SD card reader inside the camera. (The problem occurs with various different SD cards, so is related to the camera and not the SD card). I have sent the camera via a Dutch Pentax dealer to the importer and they have come up with a quote of 593 EUR for a repair of the camera :(, which is about the price level of a new K20D body over here. Before I decide to buy a new K20D, I would like to check the possibility to repair the camera myself.
The first issue that I have come across is a problem with opening of the camera. I can open the bottom plate of the K10D, but thereafter I ''get stuck''. Does anyone know how to disassemble the back of the camera so I can check the contacts of the SD Card reader?
Arthur
