Architecture Photography: Lens Suggestions

Thanks for all the replies guys! I have been looking at the Sigma 10-20's and was wondering, is it really worth the extra $200 to get the f/3.5 model over the f/4? I hadn't even heard of the Sigma 8-16, but at ~$700 new I just don't think I can justify that much more of an investment for 2mm more at f/4.5. Am I wrong in this assumption? Is that lens really worth the extra scratch?

Also, as far as the TC's go, I know it's both a bit off topic and they aren't a great solution, but what I'm really looking at is extending the versatility of my kit the greatest amount possible without spending a fortune that I don't have. I'm trying to transition from a completely amateur photog to a freelance professional, and am really trying to cover all my bases. If a 1.4x or 1.7x would be a lot more usable than a 2x (which from your comments it seems like) then I am all about going that route instead. What I'm hearing is that 1.4x would put me at ~420mm equiv. on my 55-300 and a 1.7x would be like having a ~510mm. Am I right with these assumptions? Is it worth it? If so, 1.4x or 1.7x, which would be best, and what brand/model is decent?

Along these same lines of being a bit off topic and extending my kit's capability on the cheap (I should've titled the thread: getting the best versatility bang for my buck). Has anyone used a 49mm filter thread macro reverse rings (mouthfull)? I have an FA 50mm f/1.4 and supposedly I could add another macro to my kit for ~$10 by getting one. Is this the only lens that works with the ring, and is it a total gimmick, or actually usable? Sorry again, for cramming so many questions into this thread, but I've gotten a lot of great anecdotal info already, thought I'd ask.

Great, looks like the Samyang 14mm f/2.8 for pentax is around $380. That's about right price-wise for me and the reviews I scanned looked decent, never even heard of the brand before until you mentioned it, thanks! One more question, 2x teleconverter for my 55-300. Any suggestions there?

Hey errrbody, I have been shooting with my K20D since summer of '08 and have learned a lot. My current lens collection is as follows:

Pentax SMC DA 16-45mm for general walking around,
DA 55-300mm for zoom,
FA 50mm f/1.4 for low light and portraits (and bokeh!),
Sigma 180mm APO DG Macro for macro of course.

My question is, I am wanting to get into architecture photography, and I need some suggestions on a wide angle (not fish-eye) lenses around or less than $350 either new or used. I am open to any brand, and would actually like to try a Tamron or something besides Pentax and Sigma. Currently I'm looking at the Pentax DA 12-24mm f/4, the DA 14mm f/2.8, and some of the pancake primes.

To sum up, I want something that will add to my capabilities, fit my budget, and not overlap with my current lenses capabilities. Oh, and I'd like to be able to have good quality in low light situations as well. Thanks!

This guy was clinging onto the window of my dad's home near Huntsville, AL. There were a couple of glare spots in the background I removed, but other than that it's exactly as I took it.

So I was hanging out at the picnic area at the Monte Sano state park close to where I live, and I came across this bad boy. Let me know what you think!

I'll post some more guitar picks in the next couple of days, I'll be working on landscapes in the mean time because the weather is finally nice down here in bama.

Hello all,

This is my first post to PentaxForums as I have recently (as of today) accepted delivery of my brand spanking new Pentax K20D. So I had a little time to play around with it and, I thought I'd post some pics, and maybe [hopefully] get some feedback.

Here is a pic of some of my dad's guitars with the FA 50mm.

And just a random Japanese maple tree branch with the SMC DA 16-45mm.

Anyways, I'd really appreciate some criticism.
