HD DSLR Video

I think the next Pentax DSLR should have a robust video mode... something like the canon maybe even better. I know most on this forum could not agree with me... I see a good market for it for Pentax, because they are the only camera company left that makes weather sealed lenses and is compatible with a huge catalog of legacy glass. I see the weather sealing a huge advantage for nature film makers. I could see this as a great nitch for Pentax no one else can offer. Look what Panasonic did the there GH series film makers love that little camera, why can Pentax do that with their K5 series.

Ive been really wanting a fast zoom so this fits the bill... got to be smaller than a 70-200. I would love to have all 31mm dont have the money now I think.
I looked at nikon I could see the same problem.

Best lens set up

Hi I recently put up a thread about buying a K7. I wanted to ask more questions for lenses. I found a really good deal on a used 50-135 2.8 DA* and was think that would be a good first lens, For now I can use my D40 with its 35mm 1.8 prime lens. Latter pick up maybe a 35mm or a 40mm pancake lens threw KEH. I'm use to shooting prime lenses, but Im not use to manual focus... is it easy to learn. I was also wondering if Canon FD lenses can be used... I looked at lens adapters and all I saw was crapy ones with glass that probily deflect all kinds of light.

Im a long time Nikon user looking to switch to Pentax. Because of weather sealing and price of lenses. I don't feel I will ever need to move up to full frame because of bulk and price. Also being to use all old lenses ever made on I notice on here and people reviewing Pentax DA* lenses complaining there expensive. When Nikon is like double the price for each of there high up lenses. Even The most expensive Limited primes are cheaper then Nikon top of the line primes. You guys don't know how good you got it. Nikon does have some nice newer budget primes but I really want weather sealing.

thanks Jeff. I do have problems with the D40 when I try sports or other events... but The D40 only has 3 focus points and doesn't track movement well. The AFS speed is nice though. I think pentax is fast enough.

Thanks guys for all the advice here:D I will check out those lenses... One of the reasons I I kind of think a pro doesn't have to spend a fortune for his gear. Even the expensive DA*s are cheaper than Nikon top glass. Just need to save some money up now

you guys should look at the competition for this lens, 18-200 DX VR Nikon is like 700$ and it has some really bad reviews, no weather sealing.

JHD good point a good fast prime will solve all. I would rather have a reliable camera than a load of problems. I need a bomb proof camera. I put my D40 threw hell I think. I think you guys convinced me. K7 with the WR kit lens to start with is great combo. I should see if I can get a few cheap primes off of KEH for now until I can afford limiteds.

that's very sad how did they do that making a sensor worse than a 5 year old camera... that's depressing.... so low light concerts are out of the question. Unless I turn up noise reduction

Thats what Im looking for... I have tried the D7000 I dont like how it feels in the hand. I need to have weather sealing because I go out in the worst weather. I would love the K5 but the price is too much and am willing to look at the K7 when I can get it 799 with kit.

I have the same experience with D40. I never go above 200. 800 is my max. It looks terrible any bit higher. I find it hampers me when Im trying to get events and concerts. But if 1600 is usable that would be a plus.

Thanks for the advice:D I currently use 35mm 1.7 DX at the moment... I love the that range. Im glad to here its not all bad with the K&. I think the IQ and ISO has got to be better than my D40 1600 is very bad. Im thinking I might get the 17-55 WR kit lens first just for the weather sealing. Later save up for the 31 1.8. That lens seems hard to find. Is the K& able to use FD lenses with adapter well

I know the K7 does not have the best sensor or auto focus. How does it rate against My Nikon D40. Whats better whats worse. I see that The used and new price is good and thinking about getting one the K5 is too much to start out with and buy lens for it. This is some of my work Ronin19's deviantART Gallery to give you an idea what I do. I want to get into pentax because of the weather sealing, the backwards compatibility, prime lenses, Light weight compact body of the K7, and affordable lenses... I know there are pricy ones but not in the range of 2000$ and more. I also could use some suggestions on the first kit lens to start with.
