Yes, I have removed the battery and reinserted it. Is there some other way to re-set the camera to "default settings". I have no changes to the camera software settings, etc. so I have do not have anything to "lose" by a reset to default settings. Barring some miracle reset, looks like my K-50 will head to the shop for repair. Thank you. JimC

To my knowledge, I have made no changes. Again, using vanilla auto mode or scn mode for action photos.

When I press the +- button next to the shutter, the view finder shows the + - scale and I have 0.0 displayed to right of the scale in the view finder. Does this information help you?

I am still digging through my camera paperwork, but it looks like the one year Pentax warranty is good until July 10, then the one year of extended warranty through NewLeaf kicks in. NewLeaf is working today, but told me to call Pentax support and they are closed for the holiday. Any one have experience with Pentax warranty claim service? Should I wait until Monday to call or try to open a warranty claim on their website, etc. This is all new to me--so any and all advice is welcome. JimC

Two pictures attached; 2211 is manual setting with 55-300 lens. File 2212 is the same picture with the camera settings on Auto. Again, thank you all for your patience and willingness to help me a novice at best. JimC

I have never used the manual mode...Looking for the manual now.

---------- Post added 07-03-2015 at 06:04 AM ----------

I get the same results with the kit lens 18-55 as I do 55-300 with lens I used at the soccer game.

AldaCZ--When I place the k-50 in manual mode, it does produce a picture (outside light) rather than the "black" image. But when I switch back to Auto or Scene mode (action) the preview screen is entirely black again. Does this confirm that I have a "servo" problem? Thanks for your kindness to help me. JimC

All the pictures are now locked into 5.6 aperture--it never seems to change now. What does this indicate?

K-50 Camera 11 months old and I am a newbie amateur taking pictures.

Yesterday when I used the camera with the DA 55-300 lens at a late afternoon very sunny soccer game--all the pictures are "black" no grass or sky and occasionally a neo-orange colored soccer jersey is visible. I shot only on Auto or Scenes mode for action. I did not change any camera menu settings or physical switches on the outside of the camera ---unless something was accidently bumped when I removed the camera from the bag.

When I came home, any pictures I take--even with the flash are mostly "black" with only an occasional object outline visible. I get the same result when using the kit lens 18-55. I have a friend with a k20-D and when I put either of my lens (55-300 or 18-55) on his camera the pictures are fine. This would seem to indicate to me that the k-50 sensor, etc has failed.

Again, the camera is lightly used and has less than 2500 total pictures taken. Of course, I am trying to find my paperwork to determine if my memory is correct and I should have one month of warranty left. I hope to contact Adorama today--though they may be closed for the 4th of July holiday.

Any advice is appreciated as I am in a bit of a "panic" worrying about the camera. Thank you.

Batch Process for Scanned Photos
Posted By Waldo

I have embarked in scanning more than 2000+ color negatives. These negatives were generally in good shape; however, the pictures were mostly take in the 1980's. I am using a WIN XP Pro PC. The scanner does not provide any sort of touch-up software...merely the Window driver to scan the negatives. These photos have been scanned at the highest resolution permitted by the driver.

Many of the photos have some pixels missing {i.e. a "white" spec on the photo when I view it in full screen mode. These specs are randomly located and do not appear to be releated to the scan process. For the most part its only a pixel here or there that is missing {i.e. for some reason its very noticable in the sky of the photos & the missing pixels varying from a few to a max of 25-30 per photo}

So my question is there software available (i.e. I use only the pentax digital software that came with my k-20) that can correct these 2,000+ photos in a "batch" mode processing? I would hate to think that I have to open each photo individually to apply the any type of photo correction software.

Please any and all advice is welcome. Thank you for your time.

Do either of you know if Pentax is still offering the extended warranty on the K-7for free? I believe it was for an additional 2 years, if you merely called customer service. I remember reading about this and I am still trying to find these posts..but no luck so far. So I just wondered if this was still available or if I should consider purchasing the B&H warranty. Any one have advice on this? Thx.

Sticky: The Usage of Green Button

I have a k20d and have been evaulating purchasing either the k7 or k-x. Since the k-x does not need the "green" button for manual lens to establish the shutter speed does the k7 perform likewise? Or is the k7 just like the k20d in the use of the "green" button to establish the shutter speed for the correct exposure using manual lens? I have 5 manual lens, so the answer to my inquiry will significantly impact my final decision. THANKS.
