Samsung wonīt buy Pentax, they are not interesting anymore for it.
They already have their own system, they have the technology and they know how to sell a product.
SJ Park, the actual Samsung Electronic CEO is changing everything.
He was the Samsung representative for Samsung LCD in Asia 3 years ago and he changed the market from Sony to Samsung.
When he came to Samsung Electronic changed the mind of the camera division. They just made low price camera and sold a lot of component and technology stuff for almost very camera maker company and he proposed make new and advanced cameras.
The DualView system on a few Samsung camera is a example of what he wants, nice interesting cameras, cheaper and good cameras and advanced useful cameras.
The NX system is almost totally of him.
One good signal that you can see about what Samsung will do is the Mobile Phone division.
Samsung was at the same level in this division than digital imaging and camera, but since 2 years ago SJ Park is changing the Smartphone market, the new Galaxy S series, Wave and the coming Galaxy Q and Tablets are good signs of the take off of the Samsung technology.
Right now Samsung is pushing the camera and camcorder division, are coming new advanced cameras, more cameras with wireless communication (WiFi and 3G), new camcorder with nice features like Solid-State-Disk, Wifi, AMOLED display, new CMOS back-light sensors, FullHD format, etc.
The next year the Camera Department of Samsung will be like the Mobile Phone department right now.
What I expect for next year...
-New NX cameras, with wireless connection, FullHD video and advanced features
-New NX-mount videocameras (like Sony NEX-VG10)
-More fixed and short zoom lenses
-Advanced compact cameras with CMOS sensors instead CCD
-New camcorder line products with wireless connection and FullHD

Well, is difficult track all the Sony CMOS sensor in DSLR, but, probably be something like this:
-IMX021: a700/D300
-IMX038: D90/D5000 (720p video support)
-IMX0??: a500/a450/K-x (12MPx extended ISO setting), 720p video support
-IMX0??: a550 (14MPx extended ISO setting), probably 720p video support
Probably the IMX038 and the K-x sensor are a modified version of IMX021.
The first CMOS sensor from Sony in a DSLR was the IMX007 in the Nikon D2X, and the same technology was used in the APS-C 1.7X size CMOS sensor on Sony R-1, but I donīt remember the model number.
The 10MPx CCD in D200 is different to 10MPx CCD in D80/K10D/GX10/a100/a200..., the D200 sensor is the ICX483AQA, almost the same in the others DSLR (ICX493AQA) but with 4 output channels instead 2.
The D200 sensor reach 5.5fps and the D80/K10D 3.3fps.

The Sony a700 sensor has 10.3fps but limited to 5fps in the a700.
The Sony a900 sensor has 6.3fps but limited to 5fps in the a900.
The maximum transfer capacity of the sensor is not the maximum fps in the camera.

I think this is more a desire than truth.
Pentax would not get benefits from M4/3 system, just would be pay more for a new sensor format/size/technology when they can use 2 APS-C sensor (Samsung 14Mpx and Sony 12Mpx) already paid.
And, why every body said: "Samsung (Pentax) is coming late to EVIL"? I donīt know the world will end tomorrow...
Just wait for more APS-C competitors and new and better APS-C technology, Pana/Oly is now getting advantage because they are almost the only one offering a EVIL, but in one or two years with more Samsung cameras and lenses and Sony and other making EVIL cameras the market will be different.

Well, Samsung could use its GX system and become it in EVIL FF system.
Samsung could use the K mount and keep the flange distance or a new FF mount and a shorter flange distance.
A new completely electronic system.

The K-x has not the same sensor of a550, a550 is 14MPx and the K-x 12MPx. This is the same of a500.

If we take the hot-shoe of reference, between Samsung NX10 and Panasonic GF1 the difference is not so big.
The NX10 is just 7% thicker than GF1 from mount to LCD.
The NX10 maybe be taller because the EVF.

But the same registration distance would not be good for some lenses?
Example Super Wide Angle with retrofocus design, telecentric lenses, etc...
Maybe it will be a professional system and I donīt think a small (M4/3 style) system be good for that.

Probably it is false, but there is a possibility EVIL GX work with actual Pentax/Samsung/Sigma/Tamron lenses.
This camera could come with all electronic contacts necessary to a new FF line lenses (AF, aperture, etc), but it also could have a screw motor and mechanical system to aperture of actual lenses like the actual Pentax/Samsung cameras. junyo
"I don't give Samsung credit for being that smart."
I agree...

But they have a "compact camera" with a big sensor... and that is the important thing...
Samsung has almost 2 years with a own CMOS APS-C sensor and until now hasnīt launched something and 1 year ago they announced it.

Leica has a forward step in EVIL APS-C camera and Samsung announced it 1 year ago.
What is Samsung waiting for??
Samsung has the technology in sensor, display, electronic and a lenses supply. Has many interesting camera in the market with WiFi, BlueTooth, GPS, AMOLED, 1.2M LCD, interactive menu, etc... what are they waiting for...??
The DP-1/2 are interesting cameras, now Leica launch a very similar system with a no own sensor or electronic.
What must difficult be to make a similar concept with fixed interchange lenses??
Almost 2 year from DP concept, 1 and a half year of M4/3 concept and a half year of X1 concept...
Samsung you need a better advisor and marketing team...

The new small zoom is a 18-55mm and the telezoom is like a 50/70-200mm.
The Samsung lenses have 2 switches, AF-MF (very weird in a contrast AF lens) and OIS.
The EVF look big... |
