I’ve just got my new KP and i set it up as I had my K70. When I take a photo there is a delay before it shows the photo and it says "data being processed" None of my other Pentax cameras ever too so long to process a photo. The continuous shooting mode also doesn’t work. I press the shutter and it only takes one shot. Has anyone else experienced this or know what the cause is. Maybe I’ve messed up one of the settings. ---------- Post added 04-23-2021 at 09:35 PM ---------- Never mind....I turned it off and on and it’s working!:p

It won’t let me add the images to my signature because the file names are ridiculously long.

I’ve also just bought myself an MX and K1000 and I’ll be developing my own films agains after 25 years! Within a couple of days I was so used to the manual controls again that I keep feeling for the aperture ring when I I use my K70 😛

I've just bought my K70 so it will be at least 5 years or until it breaks before I can even contemplate another camera ---------- Post added 07-28-2019 at 02:54 PM ----------
I know that and that's how I have them set up. It's working in manual mode that is frustrating.

Yes! It's what I really miss on the K50 and K70 after my K20D.

It's my fault for having the stupid idea to try and use the camera to record the tutorial at the last minute without having time to mess around with it first, but at least I'm learning from my mistakes lol! Thanks so much for the photoshop tip, it looks like that is exactly what I need. I shot the footage without thinking that the editing software I use won't be able to handle the job. Unfortunately I can't afford Premiere and I've been using Filmora which has been fine when my phone has been most of the adjustments anyway. The footage was sped up in Filmora and then exported at 720. It's just a quick preview of the full tutorial. I know that for film the pros go for a muted look, but for a drawing tutorial the important thing for me is that the drawing is very clear so I want it to have a fair amount of contrast and clarity. ---------- Post added 07-05-2019 at 02:16 PM ----------
This clip was sped up in post processing (Filmora) as a preview of the full tutorial. The camera was stable on a tripod, I tried various depths of field with the same results. And the lens I used was the DA 35mm 2.4 which on all accounts is a good lens (the other lens has now retired!) The sharpness is the same in both the original and the sped up versions.

It looks just as bad on my PC. When I focus, it looks perfectly sharp, but as soon as I press record it visibly goes soft on the lcd and when I stop the recording it goes sharp again, but I've just realides that that is the focus peaking. I've disabled any lens corrections and there is no difference. For a comparisson to the footage I posted above, here is footage from my Samsung Note 8 S4T8 Drawing Deacons (Preview) - YouTube |

I knew Pentax were bad at video (it's not why I buy their camera's) but I didn't expect a dslr to be miles worse than my samsung smartphone!

I'm also having abysmal results with the K70's video. I thought I'd get better results recording my drawing tutorials with my K70 than my smart phone and the image quality is dreadful. Even though it shows it to be in focus before recording (and I then set the focus to manual so it won't change) as soon as I press record the image goes soft. Am I doing something wrong or is this camera incapable of shooting sharp video?

Thank you so much! You've spared me 4 hours on buses and trains to return it tomorrow! I'm sure the dreadful lens didn't help the situation.

The KP body costs at best €949 as opposed to €549 for the K70. It is way beyond by budget.

Thanks for the suggestion. I live in Greece so the shipping costs alone wouldn't make it worthwhile....nevermind the import duties! What really makes the K70 worthwhile to me is the high ISO capabilities as I do a lot of indoor low light photography and I push my camera top the limits in terms of ISO. ---------- Post added 05-29-2019 at 10:32 PM ----------
To be honest I'm not that sorry that I'll have to get the K70 ;) ... I just won't eat for the next month. I have the DA 18-135 and it lives on my camera, so I'm just looking to replace the body and fortunately I've found one for a very good deal of €549 locally (On Amazon.de it's €700) . I do a lot of low light indoor photography and push the K50 to it's limits and beyond so it will be great to have a camera with better high ISO.

Yep...looks I'll be coughing up for a K70 ---------- Post added 05-29-2019 at 09:13 PM ----------
It doesn't focus properly with either of my lenses, though. I've asked a friend (who I made into a Pentaxian  ) to bring her lenses over tomorrow to make absolutely sure that the problem is with the camera and not the lenses.

Nope, unfortunately it's not insured...looks like I'll end up coughing up for a K70. ---------- Post added 05-29-2019 at 06:55 PM ----------
Thanks for the link. You'd be amazed what can happen in a freak accident. You wouldn't believe the damage my old K20 and the lens suffered in a 40cm fall in my sturdy Lowepro. The technician couldn't believe it.
My cameras all seem to die in freak accidents! ---------- Post added 05-29-2019 at 06:59 PM ----------
The focusing is fine both manually and with autofocus both through the viewfinder and live view. But the photo is out of focus, which is why I suspect the sensor has moved. ---------- Post added 05-29-2019 at 06:59 PM ----------
I've tried that, but it didn't make any difference. ---------- Post added 05-29-2019 at 07:01 PM ----------
I checked the screws...they're fine ---------- Post added 05-29-2019 at 07:04 PM ----------
Autofocus locks fine and I can get sharp images both in live view and through the viewfinder, but the photo isn't sharp where I focused. I've tried the fine adjustment and it makes no difference, so that's why I assume it's the sensor. I guess I'll be coughing up for a K70....

My camera bag was knocked off a chair and since then my K50's photos are slightly out of focus. The autofocus works fine but the results are the same with both my lenses (one of which wasn't in the bag at the time). I had the same problem with my K20 when the same thing happened to it years ago. I assume that the sensor has moved out of place. Has anyone else had this problem and does anyone now if it can be fixed?

My K50's aperture died after about 18 months and a shutter count of around 12000. As it was still under guarentee they replaced it for me.

Helzmo, I've had it less than a month, so I haven't taken it to a repairers to be cleaned. There is dust on the first photos I took. If it's going to be a dust magnet then I figure I might as well get a cleaning kit because I can't afford to get it professionally cleaned every time it gets full of dust.

Thanks for all the responses :-) I think I'm going to have to invest in a cleaning kit. It definitely seems to be a dust magnet. My K20D never had dust problems like this.

I got my K50 almost a month ago to replace by K20D. I'm absolutely loving it as I do a lot of low light photography and I pushed my poor K20D to its limits and beyond.

Thanks for the quick response, Adam. That is what I'm hoping. I'm just surprised to see so much on a camera straight out the box.
