I switched the flash to "ON" (rightmost position), and then changed the mode to M. The flash emits light, but the picture is still dark. Thanks.

Anybody has experience with YongNuo CTR-301P wireless trigger? I tried to use it with my Pentax 540FGZ and K-x. The flash is triggered. However, you won't see the effect until you lower the shutter speed to less than 1/20s. It's really weird. Any suggestion and comments? Thanks.

Pentax lenses in Japan are cheap? Could you please post some prices for popular lenses like DA and FA limited lenses?

Are there any tests on this topic? It looks like K7 is really decent. Thanks.

You can also consider FA35/2 if macro is not a must for you.

I got one from him as well. No complaint except for some dust inside the lens. Emailed Eric, the cleaning work will cost me sth like $40. I'd like to leave them alone as I don't think the image quality would be affect in any way. Any suggestions? Paired it with my MX....I really like it.

I always wondered which formats the DOF scales on lenses are for. I assume those on DA's are for APS-C, while those on FA/F/A/M/K are for 135. So when you use an FA/F/A/M/K lens on a DSLR body, you cannot trust the DOF scales on them.
I always try to calculate the hyperfocal distance approximately. For example, a 50mm lens with f/11 on DSLR gives you hyperfocal distance 50*50*50/11/1000 ~ 11 (m). So the near limit is half of the distance, which is 5.5 m.

It's said FA35/2 is very Nikon-ish, as the guy who designed it later went to Nikon, and designed some great lens such as 24-70/2.8 there.
Its sharpness at wide open should be one of the best among non-DA Pentax lenses. Its view angle is comfortable at DSLRs, and fantastic on FF film cameras. I really like this lens.

Thanks for the replies above. Is it easy to change the lens mount? I assume a screw driver should be enough for this work, right?

IMHO, wide primes and tele zooms are a good combination. On the wide angle side, your legs can help to cover some focal range, while they wouldn't help much on the tele side.

I recently bought a Pentax MX from Ebay. It looks nice except that there is some rust on the lens mount. I am wondering what would be the price to replace the lens mount? So I can negotiate with the seller to get partial refund. Thanks. |

For portraits, DA* 50-135 along is enough. So I'd say 17-70 and 50-135.

Looks like Canon has 28/1.8....I am wondering why we need such a large aperturen in wide angle lens? I am very happy with my M28/3.5.
