Well, its been a while since my last post but I figure this is worth it. However, i have to admit that the K-x is not what I am hoping to win. I recently purchased one and am very happy with it, although it does seem a little soft at 100% pixel peeping. So what I am hoping for is the lens!

Hi Amanda,
As much as Iwould like to encourage you to install Linux, I am a computer geek who has used Linux more than a few times and like it, I don't think that would be beneficial for you. It is a great OS, Operating System, and does have wonderfull free programs but it is not the easiest thing to work with. I find it challanging!
From my little understanding of your situation I think free windoze(Windows) picture editing software might be better/easier for you. Although I have never used it I beleive Picasa is a decent photo editing software. I am not sure if it will do what you want but for your PC and knowledge level it should be a good place to start.
For more info look here: Picasa
If you are confused and want more information do not hesitate to ask more questions, we are here to help you out.

Like the others have said, not too dificult to do. What photo editing software do you use? Google for a tutorial of the editor of your choice. If you need more help I could get you a link. Just let me know which editor.

I have to agree with a lot of these posts. I get great shots from my older lenses, it just takes more time and care. My biggest issues is getting the focus right but that keeps improving with time. So the biggest issue for me is EBCF, Error Between Camera and Floor!

Wow, there are sone good shots here. I think I am with the rest of the posters and will have to look through them a few time to figure out my favorite. I have 9 or so to sort through. I agree with the comments on #39.

Love the photos, especially the flower buds partially covered in snow. Good job.

Thanks to everyone for their reply's. I did like the way the lighting came out. It is actually sunlight through a skylight. The guy in the second picture is a master at the puppy eyes look, he knows how to work it to get some attention. My wife calls him a photo slut, whenever a camera is out he is always wanting to get in the picture! Usually too close, he wants to get right into the picture.

I haven't had time to post anything in a few weeks but here are some shots taken at my in laws house a few weekends ago. C & C are always welcome.
My boys taking in a little sun. The lighting worked out much better than I thought, we were inside and the light was coming in from a skylight. It was much brighter that the pictures show. We were all being a little lazy in the afternoon. I did do a little cropping, dodging, burning and sharpening.

Wow, this got me to count the lenses! I knew I had a few but now I realize I have 11. Apart from the kit lens the rest is old glass. A few duplicates... :) I might have to sell a few of them, maybe. Most of mine are hand me downs or purchases from eekbay and pawnshops. I have been amazed at what I have paid for at pawn shops. $10 for a SMC 50 1.7, decent condition, the aperture ring is stiff, the diaphragm blades look like they have been cleaned but work well, but the glass is clean and it takes great pictures. $10 for a 135 2.5 Takumar, non super but clean glass so I am happy with it.

I am having the same issue with older lenses. I tend to hit the focus either a little in front or behind where I should. I have been thinking about getting one of them but need to get permission from the boss. I do think it has been discussed somewhere but I am curious also.
By the way, have you looked here: Pentax DSLRs - KatzEyeOptics.com
They sell the screens new. Not sure about the quality of the ebay one.

Great lab. Actually they are all great pictures of both dogs and cats.
I like the thread, gives me an excuse to post pictures of my favorite victims. My wife tells me I have taken more pictures of my dogs since I got into digital photography than she has taken pictures altogether in her lifetime..... :)
Both together.
Just one. |

Not sure about the first one, I don't see the watercolor in it. I get a purple halo around the ducks? Might be my minitor/scaled down version that causes it.
I do like the second one. I played with the crosstich once and liked it. I think it works well with that picture.
Not bad for an overcast day.

Great shots. I like the moon shot like it is. Maybe a little cropping but it not necessary. If you like to do the moon shots do a search, I think in this forum, and you should find the recommended settings. I have gotten some decent shots that way.
Like the second shot, funny. :)

Great photos, really like the second one.
I like those fast primes myself also. Like you said you have to watch the DOF. I have had shallow DOF and focused a little off and had to live with the main focus point a little out of focus.

Love those bee shots! I with Pete, how did you get the shots so close? Are they cropped at all?
Beutifull pictures of the flowers also. I like the DOF on the first few. Especially the first one.

Thank you everyone. I need to get some better pictures of them posted. I am getting the whole online posting and storage thing figured out. Just got a flickr/yahoo account going.
I printed these and they are coming out great. I had not printed any pictures from my K100 before and these came out great. The one of the black dog, Teves, is actually in focus and is amazingly sharp printed. The other come out good but it is slightly out of focus, I focused on his back and not his face! :(
Alvin,
They do not get very big. They are around 20 lbs. each, 14" or so tall. Great dogs however.

I copied the img tag that is shown at the bottom of the gallery. It does contain a 'medium' part in it. So i viewed the image and found that when viewing it it will omit the 'medium' part. So here it is in all its glory! ;) Better, what I was expecting the first time. |

Both are rat terriers, or at least I think they are. :) They have both been rescued, Teves walked up to work one afternoon and Turco was waiting for me and my wife at a shelter.
Why did the pictures come out small? I uploaded them to the galery and linked from there but they appear to have been resized. Is it usually beter to upload to a 3td party photo hosting site, or just attach them?
Thanks,

First time to post some pictures. I am showing a few of my friends :) A couple of guys that found me. Both were taken using an old manual Tokina lens borrowed from my father. Processed some in Lightroom and CS2, cropped quite a bit, I did not frame them that well originally....
Trying to follow user friendly photo posting like it is recommended.
All comments are welcome!
