Lens Mount Compatability

I have a similar problem, so perhaps bringing this thread back up would be best, considering there is relative information in it. I'm trying to use a few of the old lenses I had for my old K-1000 on my *istDL. I haven't been here is a while and I thought I might have posted here several years ago to ask about this problem. I know that I had this question solved in the past but I so rarely use the lenses in question, I've either forgotten how to make them work with the *istDL or I'm doing everything correctly and the camera isn't functioning as it should. The lenses are a Vivitar MC 70-150 MM Matched Multiplier and a Vivitar MC 70-150 Macro Focusing Zoom. The lenses are shown here, obviously, neither are auto focus lenses. patrick9's last post in this thread mentioned the need of only the switching the auto focus AF to MF. AHHhhhhh OK, reading his first response answers the question -- it is the custom aperture ring setting described on page 180 of the manual that allows the shutter to release. Now it is functioning.

Well, I'm going to go ahead and post this in case others might find it helpful.

Thanks for this great resource.

Well, Mo.

I apologize for my out of place post. I do thank you for pointing this out, I appreciate it. And of course you have correctly guessed the object, a magnifying lamp, close enough.

To the "What is it?" threads, then. :)

Hello folks,

I haven't been following these threads very closely, so I may be misunderstanding the process here. If I'm stepping out of turn, just slap me, I'll cower in the corner a while. If I haven't, one can post a photo for guessing the subject. It appears most photos are identified quite quickly. I'll give this a whirl in the hope you are all baffled and bewildered. (Fat chance of that!) If you are, I'll post another photo, hoping to lead you closer to the solution, and so on.

So, here goes.

Thanks for the Welcome reply, Julie. Soaking up as much information as I can here seems a great place to start climbing the learning curve. I've been wondering about lenses; I should keep reading before I start itching to buy more glass.

Looking forward.

Hi Folks.

I registered months ago, but find very little time to spend with this. I've dropped in occasionally since registering; it looks to be shaping into a wonderful resource. What time I've been able to spend here has been very helpful, as I am quite a novice with regard to photography. I have a K-1000, and an *ist DL. I'd just love to know how to use them. I have a feeling I'm in the right place to learn.

Thanks to everyone for their involvement,

Dave
