dear fellow friends...i dont know if i should tell you this...but when i arrived at the the guys house to pick up the lens...he showed me other beauties...for 175 dollars... i picked up the 500mm...along with a 35mm 3.5 tak and a 70-150mm 4 tak...all in PERFECT condition. i appologise if this makes you sick...lol. but i was just exstatic! i will post photos from the 500 sometime soon. my poor k10d needs to be sent in to be fixed :/ but i'll throw it on my 5d and take some shots. in regards to places to search for these gems...PAULH is spot on. craigslist is key. garage sales can be amaaaaazing. and pawn shots too, but they usually have an idea of what they have. the beauty (for the new owner) of craigslist and garage sales, is that the owners usually have no idea what their "junk" is worth. its usually just a mom or dad trying to get a buck from their mom or dads old metal lenses. that being said...go out and get those beauties!!! :) hope that helps fellow pentaxians.

is it safe to use the k10d in the rain with lenses not specifically weatherproofed? like the sigma 18-55 3.5-5.6 DC and the fa smc p fa 50mm 1.4. thanks a bunch. david

upgrade from k10d for iso control

so i love everything about the k10d, except for the usable iso range. i would looove to switch to the D3, but my financial situation will not allow it. i'm curious as to what you think is a better step up. the k20 or the k7. is there any difference in the iso handling between the two. what is the highest high quality usable iso range on the two? i really dont care about all the little new filter add ons that the k7 has. i absolutely love the color that the k10 produces. is it different in the other two? i appologize if this topic has already been covered. one other thing, i love shooting in very bright conditions. is the k20 any better than the k10 at handling high exposures? i know the k7 is suppose to have some sort of highlight compensation mode. thanks a bunch, david.

so i just picked this lens up in a m42 mount for 25 dollars at our local camera shop in mint condition...Vivitar / 28mm 1:2.8 / MC / Wide Angle / No. 28xxxxxx / Ø49MM [Komine]... but WITHOUT the mc on it. its also says auto wide angle. does anyone know if this is a good lens or if its the same as the version with the "mc"... i appologize if someone has already mentioned this one. thanks a bunch :) david

haha this is soooo random!!! but after spending like three hours looking at this thread, and just drooling... the next day (yesterday) i randomly called our local pawn shop, and low and behold... they had a MINT kiron 28mm 1:2.5 M42 mount!!! haha. picked that baby up for 60 bones. did some quick shooting with it and was dang impressed... these were just converted from raw to jpg, no extra editing : ) thought people might be interested in what this lens can really do. shot it with my buddies k200d and one of my old flashes bounced off some white paper. my k10d is getting fixed at the moment ;) its a post i made on fredmiranda, but it shows the photos at a larger size for the detail... kiron 28mm 1:2.5 M42 mount - FM Forums

been following this thread for the last two hours now... haha yes its a drug. so is it safe to say that any 28mm f/2 vivitar out there with the serial number starting in 28 is a good lens to snag? i go to a ton of pawn shops and goodwills, so i'm always looking for old gems. what would you say i should look for if others. thanks a bunch, david.
