Thanks!
Do you have any examples of 17mm at 2.8? I don't seem to see any at 2.8.
All this in FF Crop mode right?
Thanks for these examples!!!

Any example of 17mm on the K1 in FF mode? I'd love a AF super wide at 2.8 for my concert work.
OR do you use it in Crop mode?
I thought:
DG meant = ff ready
DC = Crop
Thanks!

Just to confirm you are in FF mode ya?
I heard it works well, with some vignetting that you can correct in post.
I really want a k1, but only the 31 I have is true FF ready. The 55.1 is one of my favs and looks like it works well.
Then perhaps I can grab an older Tammy 24-70 to get me by until I grab the pentax 24-70.
But my deep inside says grab the 24-70 first, then the k1 when it comes down in $ a bit...maybe

I went with some Gaffers tape to start. I think it looks pretty damn good. A bit less in your face.

Anyone ever try to convert the color on your K-01. I have the yellow one and while at first was ok with that, now I'd like it to be black. I tried first using the small door cover of the AV outlet with sharpie. A few coats over a few days and it is ok. after drying for a few days my nail could easily take off the black, as expected really.
I don't want to dissemble the device, but just find a way to carefully convert the yellow to black. My next thought is Gaffers tape.
anybody ever try to do this?
cheers.

New GR is my guess. Something about the new sensor shift tech. Maybe a new piece of glass or two.
GR- better guts, evf (I can dream, but doubt it) perhaps and EVF attachment you can plug into a hot shoe like thing that does video? more manual style controls like you have seen on Fuji x100 line.
Or just an announcement about using a sony sensor on the FF and some more FF specs.
who knows...

Got 700 dollars to spend. Can't decide what to do...
Focus:
Concerts in bad light
Life
Current Kit:
K-5iis
Sigma 17-50 2.8
DA* 55 1.4
50-135
I want: a close to 35 mm (ff) sub 2.8 for low light work.
Also: looking to possibly replace my sigma with the a 16-50 2.8 DA* (Pentax lenses just have a far superior IQ than Sigma in my experiences)
Also looking at the older (Pre art) sigma 24 1.8. lots of reports of purple fringe and flare.
Also looking at the 18-35 1.8. But know there are issues and tuning needed for this lens.
Or buy a K3 as a second body, so I'll take a K3 (50-135 on it) and the 55 1.4 (on the 5iis).
AHHHHHH so confused.

So let me get this straight...
These adapters (non aperture on adapter) can use MF A lenses, using the Aperture control on the lens itself.
These adapters (aperture control) can use a lens like the 35mm 2.4 (no aperture control), with the adapter manually changing the aperture.
-if yes: How do you know what Aperture you are at?
Ideally I'd love to use my 55 1.4 DA* on the A7. So assuming that I use a Novoflex, with aperture ring control, I'd be able to use this lens on the A7, in full manual mode on the cam...
sorry bit confused. I love the A7 and played with it a ton. Would love to pick up the body and adapter a lens or two until I can get a sony lens.
thanks

I can already feel the K-3 price drops about to come...
Sadly I was hoping for built in flu-card. The wifi option on the Fuji X100t is great to have, a pain to use, but great to have. I shoot concerts so being able to post a pic to the bands manager or social media between sets would be HUGE for me. Wireless tethering should be on every camera these days IMO.
Flip LCD would be nice, but not ness. Better low light AF and high ISO handling would be a high point for me too.
The lack of flash is odd. But not ness, if you have a mount for external.
Sensor shift tech is crazy cool idea. I shoot fast moving objects in low light, so doubt this is useful to me unless it can handle movement, but other posts here seem to think its not meant for that.
Either way, new cams = lower cost on other epic cams. Win for us.
I also echo what one said, "What I woudln't give to be a fly on the wall in that marketing meeting." WTF are they thinking. seems like they are in their own little world.

What do you use now for the 16/17-50 range at 2.8? Sigma? Pentax?

I had read somewhere you need a pentax brand lens for P-TTL to work. Using a sigma or tamron lens WON"T P-TTL with the flash PENTAX AF 360FGZ II. Is that true?
My main lens is a sigma 17-50. Hoping my PENTAX AF 360FGZ II with P-TTL will work with this lens.

So I have always wondered this...
The rule of thumb that your focal length should be the minimum for shutter speed. i.e.
I have my 17-50 lens. I am zoomed into 40mm lets say. So in FF format I am at 60mm.
With that rule being applied, should my minimum shutter speed then be 1/60 or 1/80?
Do you apply the rule to the FF focal length, or the cropped labeled focal length.
I hope my question makes sense.
55mm 1.4 lens being used. in FF that is 82.5 mm. Should my shutter be min. 1/60 or 1/125?

The look the feel the taste the smell. All of thee above. And I love getting a seriously botched frame back. Reminds me of where we have come from and that not every photo is perfect and that its still an art.

I was with you, but then decided I wanted wider. And I didn't ever use from 11-17 on the Pentax. I was in your same shoes but pulled this trigger, if it sucks, it goes back! but I doubt it will
