I just picked up a Promaster 28mm F2.8 with the A setting. Price was right. Hope it turns out fine as I find the similar focal range from Pentax too expensive.

Which one is the sharpest of these 3 lenses?

I have all three. The Hexanon is the sharpest throughout the range of f stops. The 55mm 1.8 comes in second.

I just picked a Bogen Manfrotto 3011 with a 3029 head. The head is the pan type so it uses levers, but I like the entire set up. It raises real tall; up to almost 6 feet wich I really like. It seems very stable too and the parts are not cheap at all. And, it is rather heavy, but that's all good. It cost me $85 including shipping, but I think it is much better in quality than the Sun(?) Brands at Best Buy.

What made you choose a Pentax?

No reason in particular. I just happened to get into film and started picking up Ricoh and Pentax SLRs. Kind of grew from there.

Remember the Titans. I've seen it maybe eight times but my wife had not seen it before. I enjoyed as much last night as I did years ago when it first came out.

P&S Remote Control

I have several Pentax P&S cameras: IQ105WR, IQ140M, and an IQ160SW. I would like buy the remote shutter release but I am not sure what correct model to get. I have the owner's manuals and while they do have sections on remote releases including hand drawn pictures, they do not include the actual model name or number. I think it might be remote control D, but I am not sure. If anyone can provide that information I would appreciate it.

Yes, they are photographers; photojournalists, not so sure. Just becasue they may delve into work habits that border on unethical does not make them any less of a photographer than anyone else.

I too am just getting into the digital world. I just picked up a nice K100D Super with the basic 18-55 kit lens. I did some researching and felt that with my lack of expereince and limited budget this was the best fit for me. I am sure the K7 is great but I did not have the funds for it and I also felt the camera might have been too much for me to learn, but everyone is different.

The 80s were by far the best decade of my life (born in '55). Lot's of good friends; we had some great times. My career was going well for what I wanted and needed at the time. Not that times are bad now, but I just seemed to have more fun back then.

Pentax SF1

I really can't add to what you all have said. I love my sf-1n. Built like a brick, but it is well balanced and it feels natural in my hands. The VF is one of best around. Takes fantastic pics. Yea, the lens takes the credit, but deep down I think the body has something to do with it. The ergonomics could be better but you use it enough and the sliders get to be second nature.

OP, nice review. I have had my PZ-1 for almost a year. I really like it. Its ergonmics work for me. I have the SF-1n too and I agree that its ergonmics really lacks; however both cameras are built like bricks. I found that I get used to the SF-1n after a while. Problem is I switch to other bodies and I then forget how to easily use the SF-1n. I guess I have too many cameras.

Jury Duty- would you do your duty ?

I think it is a duty all should serve. It is a small price to pay. What I find amazing is how some court districts are more lenient letting people off jury duty for just about any reason.

I agree; the LX 2000 seems fairly common; I have seen several for sale at the same time, and, I think primarily collectors bought them and they are testing the waters so to speak

Mounitng M42 lenses on K100D Super

I think I got the hang of it. I mounted both A and M lenses and they work great. I will try the M42 later but I don't think it will be much different than mounting an M lens. And, I found this site which I believe was posted some time ago on this forum more than helpful; it uses the K100D Super as the example. The other suggestions were fine but they kept alluding to the green button. The K100 D Super does not have the green button and that kept throwing me off. The AE-L button does the same thing as the green button (at least in stopping down the lens).

Well, I am fairly new to photography but I believe, yes, there are several adapters available that allow M42 lenses to be used on Pentax digital cameras. Others here are much more qualified to provide more details but I would stick with the original Pentax adapter as opposed to a third party make.

Mounting the lens is the easy part. What I don't understand how to set the cameras controls to acknowledge a screwmount is in place. I will take your advice and check the menu items along with re-visiting the manuals.

Mounitng M42 lenses on K100D Super

After several years using many Pentax film cameras I made the jump the other day and picked up a really nice K100D Super. I have a truck load of M42s, Kmounts, Ms, As, and auto focus lenses, mostly Pentax, but some from other manufacturers.

After going through the original owner's manual and the Magic Lantern manual I do not see any explanation how to mount and use an m42 screwmount lens to the camera. I know the limitations (I think), but I guess I need a structured list of what to do. I do have an orginal Pentac lens adapter, so I am good there. Sorry if this has been answered before.

Thanks everyone for the replies. The use of filters was very helpful. As of now, I am just going to shoot with the film and see what I get. I have most of the filters you all recommended though, so I will experiment with those later.

I am going to try using B&W film for the first time. Do I need to make any adjustments to my cameras as opposed to using color? I don't have any particular settings in mind other than I will be shooting outdoor shots.
