Fully agree with this sentiment. It looked promising when they updated the DFA 100mm Macro to a modern lens over ten years ago. The DFA 100mm Macro now even more with the since updated version getting rid of the purple fringing is one of the only lenses I would consider buying that is in tune to what I am looking for. When the K1 came out it seemed only logical they would have updated the FA LTD to modern digital lenses the same way they did the 100 macro but that never happened. Instead ten years later they updated the FA LTD's as nostalgic film era lenses with new coatings. Not even adding in Quickshift.
My feed back was first and foremost nix the film project focus all their resources on improving their Digital cameras. They produce excellent files but operate painfully slow to get the images you want. The shutter delay in the K1 and GR are horrible. The shutter delay and penalty make these cameras as though you are shooting film manually advancing the winder. The GRIII aside from the updated sensor and Accelerator Unit was a major step back from the GRII.
Second update the FA LTD's to modern digital lenses like the DFA 100mm Macro and or moving the DA 21 35 40 70 LTD's to cover full frame. This is not going to impact APS-C because they will always cover APS-C arguably they will work even better.
One thing I didn't say is reintroduce modern manual focus A-series lenses without aperture rings add in some WR especially on the wide end were focus is less critical below 28mm as infinity focus is beyond 5 feet. I put this in the suggestion thread years ago only to be attacked that it was a stupid idea who would want that. Who wouldn't want a modern manual A-series 28mm ƒ2 WR or a modern manual 20mm ƒ4.

The PhotoSport does have a side pocket for a water bottle. There is a picture showing this with bottle in it. You will be hard pressed to find such a camera pack that is only 6 inches deep. They don't exist. The 150-450 is 9 inches and 12 inches fully extended so it should fit. Not certain but this pack most likely allows you to remove the divider between upper and lower compartments so a long lens should fit. The 15L version is about 7 inches deep.

The LowePro PhotoSport lineup does not have a laptop sleeve they have a Hydration pocket. Here is the PhotoSport 24L. There is a smaller 18L model also. Out of all the manufactures I would say the LowePro PhotoSport is one of the best for compact size and proper ergonomics. I have access to B&H so I have looked over almost all the backpacks one can buy and on a whole the LowePro PhotoSport ticks off the most essential features most of all for comfort.
The Kinesis Journeyman is the most versatile as pack itself detaches from the harness and waist belt. The pack itself is an empty shell that you can adapt to whatever you want. There is a wide range of inserts available along with all the other lens cases and accessories that adapt to the harness and waist belt. Kinesis offers some of the best long lens cases and body holster cases that will attach to the harness and waist belt along with their lens pouches. For pack system to grow with your needs this is probably the best option due to the total adaptability.
I recently bought a ClikElite CompactSport and ProSport backpacks from eBay just to have backup packs going into the future. They are in new condition with no signs of any use. I have been using a CompactSport model for at least 15 years now. The harness and waist belt are completely fine and like the day I bought it. Even the zippers have held up. One reason the CompactSport works so well for me is the depth is short compared to most all other backpacks. It is around 7" inches which makes it ideal for urban use subway riding etc. You will be hard pressed to find a camera backpack with such a short depth. Only the LowePro PhotoSport comes the closest in size and shape. For the gear you want to carry the ClikElite ProSport would probably be better as the shape is the same but it is slightly larger. The ClikElite waist belt is very excellent. The ends of the snap buckle slide on a looped strap which cinches to the waist better than a simple belt. They both have hydration pockets that double for stuffing a jacket or sweater in there. The upper and lower compartments have a divider that unzips to open the interiors from top to bottom.

The LowePro PhotoSport Line might have a size that fits your needs. They have compact sizes at 15L and 24L sizes then jump up. They are packs for hiking outdoors with the right type ergonomics with proper harness and hip waist belt etc. for long wearing times. They have space for hydration inserts instead of laptop inserts.
I have posted this companies Kinesis Journeyman pack. This is serious outdoor gear made specifically for camera transport. They have all kinds of modular systems that can adapt to any type of need that use the same harness used for the Journeyman pack. I have never had the need for such gear but if I were going to be doing serious outdoor back country photography I think this is the way I would go. They are located I think in Utah.
My go to packs were ClikElite but they closed up shop many years ago. You can still find them on eBay. The Compact Sport and Pro Sport were excellent. Still are if you can find them.

Robert N in regards to printing images large print shops like Duggal in NYC will only use an 8-bit file as even their high end printers will only output 8-bit images. I have personally asked them if they can use 16-bit files and was told it is not necessary as the printers are only going to print 8-bit files.

Maybe you can program the touch screen to actually work like a touch screen to scroll through all the menus instead of having to use the buttons.

Something that works well are winter Golf gloves.
This pair from Zero Restriction has Gore-Tex windstopper on the back of the hand with a leather palm for dexterity. They are pricy but windstopper does work against sustained wind.
This Foot Joy winter glove works well also giving back of the hand protection while maintain finger dexterity. At that price they are worth a try. Both brands can work in combination as a glove liner.
Over the years I have used both these gloves. They are an excellent compromise between keeping your hands warm while maintaining finer tactile touch.

The level of post processing needed is dependent on proper exposure which does not need 20fps. In the modern digital age post processing is simple and fast.

Not sure how this is helping your cause. 20fps to shoot flowers? Wind blowing leaves? How about proper exposure and faster shutter speeds.

Mirrorless cameras will never have a viewfinder as good as an OVF. One thing that is evident when looking at mirrorless cameras is how inferior the EVF are compared to an OVF. The funniest thing is when you look through EVF they get better as the mp go up. Last years EVF looked great until they release one with more mp which shows how bad last years really looked which only looked better than the previous years. One thing the EVF never attain is a better view than the K1 OVF.
As for shooting 20 frames a second. Anyone who thinks they need 20 frames a second should be shooting video. Why waste your time shooting stills.

This charger comes bundled with the KF. There seems to be no stand alone Type C charger sold for the Li 109 from Ricoh/Pentax yet.

Ricoh/Pentax has already upgraded the chargers for the GRIII batteries and LI-90 batteries to include Type C connections. The Li 109 battery charger has not been upgraded to Type C yet.

Jomar you can only reapply the camera default settings to the RAW/DNG files. When you export a JPEG or TIFF file those files can not be reset the way the file came out of the camera. What you do to those exported files are imbedded in the file and importing them into other software does not strip out what was done to them ie custom image profiles etc. This also depends on what you mean by custom image profiles as image profiles could mean the color space you are using Adobe RGB SRGB ProPhoto etc which can be changed.
As for 8bit and 16bit files the print shops really only print using 8bit so 16bit files don't end up giving any advantage.

87Duckfan this Transcend Type C USB Card Reader/Hub is a good solution. I have been using one for several years now. Along with the SD/MicroSD reader you gain two Type A USB and one Type C USB connection and one Type C connection for charging.

With large amounts of images I typically rate them using Bridge to make it easier later to filter out the keepers with one or two star labeling to find the best images in each folder. This way I don't have to get rid of any images I am just able to filter out the extras. This has worked for me since the early 2000's long before Lightroom came along. Lightroom was pretty much useless for Pro use since ACR was so poorly implemented from the beginning with the consumer based UIX.

In the modern digital age it is easy to edit through 750 images just like computer based spreadsheets changed accounting.
Only recently the last several years Adobe has taken this backwards by taking the Pro GUI of ACR and turning into the consumer based UIX from Lightroom which has taken a seamless workflow in ACR to exponentially more mousing scrolling and clicking in the new consumer based UIX.

biz-engineer If you have a monitor and a keyboard you could get a Mac Mini. You can still run Windows or Linux on it. They are silent to run for the most part. Just get 512GB SSD and 16GB ram model. The M2 Mac Mini with these specs is around $1,000US. A MacBook Air has no fan at all and will also connect to an existing monitor and keyboard. I don't think you will ever look back to a PC machine. I have been using an M1 Mac Mini with 512SSD and 8GB ram without any problem with similar editing needs as yours.

rpjallan In 2019 Adobe added new features to ACR that greatly improved the processing power in particular Texture and Dehaze. Files in the past I relegated to B&W use only can now be reprocessed in color. The Dehaze feature especially helps eliminate image color cast that could not be worked out in the past. So yes you can reprocess images with the present ACR to make them exponentially better than what you could achieve in the past.
Unfortunately Adobe also in 2020 crippled ACR by moving the Pro GUI to the Lightroom consumer UIX. There is infinitely more mousing scrolling and clicking needed to get the same things accomplished after this switch.

gda13 Duggal in NYC have special digital printers by Lamda/Lightjet that use digital files to print on traditional B&W Ilford papers. They also do HD C-Prints for color.

It's clear DPReview are readers of PentaxForums.
After I posted at the beginning of this thread back when they announced they were closing that one of the main annoying things about DPR was how the main feed page was continually populated with staff faces holding equipment next to their heads. All you could see was their faces and the equipment was secondary.
Apparently the editors over there agreed because the feed page has been absent of staff faces ever since. Now it looks like a photo gear review site.

Sternibert the LowePro PhotoSport series have very good actual backpack harnesses which make them much more comfortable to haul gear around. The 15L and 24L might be what you are looking for in a day pack. Lowepro PhotoSport Series |
