Thank you Alvin and HogRider. I guess I will have to send it back to Tokina.
HogRider, I appreciate you helping me out on both forums!

It works fine with the 18-55 kit camera. So you are saying this SR Menu at startup is not normal behavior with 3rd party autofocus zoom lens. Correct?

Hi Alvin,
Thanks for the reply. Yes the Tokina AT-X 242 has A on the aperature and I made sure it is set to A. Also, this lens is a zoom (24-200) with autofocus.
The SR menu only comes up when I first turn on the camera. And I can't even change the focal length on the SR menu when it comes up as if I tried to move with multidirectional pad, the menu disappears. When I try go back to the SR menu, it is grayed out (as if it did get the focal length info from the lens).
The issue I have is why is this menu coming up on LCD when I turn the camera on? And why is the menu grayed out after it mysteriously disappears.

Please help! I need to know if this normal.
I just received a new Tokina AT-X 242 (24-200mm). With this new lens attached, every time I turn on the K10D, the first thing that comes up on LCD is the Shake Reduction menu. I thought that was odd since the Tokina AT-X 242 is new enough of a lens model that should pass the focal length information to K10D. Interestingly, if I try to choose a focal length by using the scroll ring, the screen disappears. Also, if I try to get back into the Shake Reduction menu, it is grayed out.
Grayed out SR menu indicates that the lens sent the focal length info to K10D. So, why is the SR menu coming up on LCD every time I turn the K10D on? Is this normal? I need to know so that I can return this lens if this is defective.
Thank you so much!
