I am aware of what the manual says . The chart you refer to doesn't give any detail as to why this and EV compensation are both necessary. Nether does it tell if or how they might interact with each other! As noted above this is in wireless mode as slave or master.

Make sure the three other pins in the foot (the ones around the center pin) are not being shorted out. On mine if these pins are shorted it will not fire. Put some tape or something between them and any metal on the hot shoe of the receiver. But don't cover the center contact (which is the only real "sync" contact).

Even though I have had pretty good luck with these two units, I still wish someone could come up with the answer to this question. If nothing more than "just for the record".

P.S. I also wish the AF 360FGZ had a swivel head!

I have always hated the 3:2 35mm format! Too panoramic.

Full of what?
I just hope the new senser is square. Never could figure out why a completely new medium (digital) has to be shaped like film was?! Film format shapes were/are just optimized to get the most out of diffrent film sizes.
But square is the Best! Don't have to turn the camera on it's side (and all the nonsense that goes with that) just to shoot a portrait!

Other than the under exposure your flash is acting correctly. As is stated in the owners manual, when you half press shutter button the 360 shows you crop corrected zoom setting (58mm times 1.5 crop factor is ~= to 85mm). Read your manual. As for the under exposure you'll just have to add some compensation if you want use that flash mode.
Good luck,

It sure would be nice if Pentax would publish some detailed & acurate info on these features. I also have a 360 & 540. If I remember right the last time I did some checking I had the 540 on camera (Master) & 360 on stand w/white shoot thru (Slave) set at: 0.0 1/1. I then tried setting the 540 (Master) to: 0.0 1/3 and it seemed to bring the total exposure down. This doesn't quite make sense to me. It made me think if that is what it is doing then why have the 1/1, 2/3, 1/2, 1/3 settings when in (Slave) mode?
Anyone with more details please speak up!

The 1/1...1/3 settings show up in P-ttl mode when set to wireless, both Master & Slave.

The manuals for these two flashes seems to endlessly repeat some of the more elementary stuff but has very little to say on some of the more technical details. Maybe I'm too dense but for the life of me can't seem to find out why in Wireless mode (Master & Slave) there is the 1/1, 2/3, 1/2, 1/3 settings PLUS... EV compensation -3 to +1  If the 1/1...1/3 are ratios, what are the details of their use? Which flash does each affect and which way? If they are just power reductions for that particular flash then what is the necessity of it on top of the -3 to +1 EV compensation? (I really wish it was -3 to +3 BTW  but, oh well).
In fact it is the quest for an answer to the above question that led me this forum! :)

Option P could also be: Hot Shoe Adapter FG and an Extension Cord F 5P (long 3meters).
For Option C: I have a "Promaster Off-Camera TTL Cord PX" that if I remember right I got from B&H about 4 years ago for $39.95? It is built like a tank!

I recently purchased a second hand AF 540FGZ. I was looking over the case the other day and noticed there's a tiny pocket under the top of the flap just on the inside near the velcro that holds top closed. It even has it's own velcro! I wondered what the heck is that for? Too small to put anything useful in. I now relize what it is for!
P.S. I was looking the case over because I just can't believe they didn't put a strap, loop, belt loop, hook or something to make it easier to carry or attach to another bag or belt!
