Did you check it for hot pixels? I am waiting for the replacement of my K-5 because of that.

Hey,
i travel half the world with my pentax gear. i just got back from Colombia, which i would say is far more dangerous (people on the street kept telling me to hide the camera...).
But in the end it all ended with a bunch of great shots.
There was one trip where i left my Pentax at home and brought a point&shot camera (Brazil) and i regret that still!
Rome is not a problem. There are so many tourists, why would they rob you? People don't know the brand ;-)

Unfortunately, i haven't seen a lightning striking the tower yet. But as it is the view from my balcony i ll keep watching out. Thx for the feedback. I sent this one to the local newspaper. My last one they did publish.

i would not name the k7 a beginner's dslr as there are other Pentax cameras in the productportfolio that are closer to being a beginner's cam.
but if the k7 is a beginner's cam to you, why not start with DA 16-50mm/2.8 (for full wheather seal) and FA 31mm/1.8 (a nice lens ;-) )
The 16-45mm gives you great value for the money. I like this lens a lot.
i can't tell you anything about the 14mm.

not an easy decision as there are enough reasons to have them both.
i own the K10D for 3 years. few weeks ago was thinking about upgrading to K20D or adding K-x to my camera bag.
at a store i had the chance to hold the k-x in hand. in comparison to the K10D it feels very plastic and not so solid like the K10D. i like the feel of the K10D (and of course almost every function, it is a great tool)
in addition to that i agree with Danny.

which lens will you use?
especially for indoors you gonna need a fast lens in my opinion.
here are some examples of indoor basketball with the 43mm ltd. Lens; with information about the settings:
1/160, f2.2, iso 400
1/250, f1.9, iso 400
1/250, f2.5, iso 400
1/250, f2.5, iso 400
1/320, f2.5, iso 800
the pics where published earlier in another thread: https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/post-your-photos/84336-sports-basketball-...identally.html |

Hey,
soon i will travel Vietnam.
I gonna start in Hanoi where i want to visit the Pentax factory or at least have a look at the place where the factory is. :-)
Has anyone here done this before?
Is it possible to visit?
Can you buy stuff there?
Where is it located exactly?
All i have found is this:
PENTAX VN Co., Ltd. / VIETNAM
Sai Dong B, Industrial Zone, Thach Ban Village, Gia Lam District, Hanoi, VIETNAM

as you seem to be price sensitive why not consider the DA 16-45?
It offers great value for the money and you have more possibilities at the wide end.

for me it is not so astonishing,
there are people who don't have to care about money, as written before.
Sometimes a seller just has to wait when he has such a rare and special item in stock.
