This kind of terrifies me, actually. I love my gear and had just decided to stick with Pentax vs leaping to Sony a7iv. This sort of feels like the last gasp to me, or the beginnings of a company moving in a direction I can’t semi-professionally go. :(. Think I better wait a bit for the dust to settle before doing anything rash though.

PentaxForums.com Marketplace Listing Item for Sale
SMC Pentax-A 35-105mm 3.5 "Stack of Primes" Asking Price
100.00 USD Item Location
Oregon Coast (United States) Item Description http://https://www.pentaxforums.com/lensreviews/SMC-Pentax-A-35-105mm-F3.5-Zoom-Lens.html
I got this from another forum member a few years ago and never use it. As in, ever.,...I'm not much of a manual focus guy and I'd rather have the options with the 28-105 (which I'll buy when I sell this). Optics are great, lens has some cosmetic wear. Works flawlessly with my K1.
If anyone is looking to go the opposite direction (from a 28-105 to this) and is interested in partial trade, let me know!
Cheers!

If you happen to figure out an option other than mentioned here, please post! My 100-300 4.0 has an issue where it loses some connection with the camera and jumps to some default aperture value (f4, I think?) and overexposes whatever I'm shooting without warning (and often throws thigns out of focus). They're still a bit spendy to buy another one, especially as the replacement will also be old and may not last!

At the very least it gets people talking about Pentax, which most haven't been doing for a few decades!

That 150-450 might stay a rental then! I agree, it seems very reasonable. I ended up purchasing the 24-70 for a great price and for 21 dollars more kept the hard case they shipped it in and they're sending me the original box and documentation. Very friendly staff as well.

PentaxForums.com Marketplace Listing Item for Sale
HD Pentax-D FA 28-105mm F3.5-5.6 ED DC WR $300.00 Asking Price
300.00 USD Item Location
Oregon (United States) Item Description
I LOVE this lens. It has been my go to since I bought it used from Adorama about a year ago. I don't have the original box, paperwork. This is an amazingly sharp, functional, outstanding walk-around/all-around WR lens but I just bought a 24-70 for portraits so this has to go. Not willing to budge on price as I don't NEED to sell and I'm gonna miss this! :)
From Pentax Forums:
The HD Pentax-D FA 28-105mm F3.5-5.6 ED DC WR zoom lens was announced in February 2016 as a kit lens for the Pentax K-1 full frame DSLR which was launched at the same time.
On a full frame the field of view covers a very useful range for a walk around lens. The lens can also be used on DSLRs with an APS-C size sensor; here the field of view goes from standard lens to telephoto.
The lens features nine rounded diaphragm blades for smooth Bokeh and it has a number of seals making it weather resistant. The front element is SP coated which helps repel water drops and grease, Other features are Quick Shift and a "window" in the lens hood which makes it easy to rotate a polarizing filter when one is attached.
The lens has a built-in DC autofocus motor and no provision for screw drive autofocus. Autofocus is thus available only with the K10D and K100D Super, and all newer cameras. The lens has no aperture ring and is primarily intended for use on DSLR cameras. It can be used, though, on film cameras that have P and Tv automation or where the aperture can be controlled by an e-dial. On film cameras focusing is manual only.
At 440 g/15.5 oz the lens is relatively light without being flimsy.

LensRental is awesome. Gear is nice and I REALLY appreciate they have K-mount. Regarding the purchasing of lenses, I believe they only apply 1 week total rental toward the purchase of the lens, but I may be wrong. Just rented a 24-70 and the price to keep it seems really fair.

Just took a trip to Yellowstone/Glacier/Eastern Oregon and really wish I'd had this lens! I'm renting it for my September Alaska trip and will probably end up buying it from Lens Rental if it's in good shape! Thanks for all the info and photos everyone!

Any Pentax shooters "attending" Professional Photographer's of America's Imaging USA right now? IF you're not, and would like to, it's entirely online and costs only $59.00 with a ton of informative classes and other stuff. You will be able to view them until the end of the month too (so you can watch all of yesterday's too)! Just a friendly PSA for some great instructional and fun times for an amazing price!

I'm with you!!! I love the wheels (I really miss the options of that wheel from my KP after switching to the K-1.
GPS and the astro-tracer are awesome and I use my GPS non-stop.
My only real wishes would be for a better AF and some better live view and video options. Don't even care too much about the buffer or more mp. Oh, well, of course I'd appreciate even more dynamic range :)
