Might depend on how quickly they think they can have a K-1 iii released that incorporates the best new features of the K-3 iii. They might be able to deal with six months of the cameras being close in price if the K-1 iii comes out and jumps up above the K-1 ii pricing so that you have a suitable gap between them. (I think there's plenty of folks who would not be debating between the K-3 iii and the K-1 ii. I have zero interest in full-frame. I have a 645D that I enjoy using when I want something that makes me think slowly and carefully about what I'm doing and wants to be on a tripod. I want APS-C for travel, street, wildlife, and sports.)

I think half of Ricoh/Pentax problems is not linked to product at all but to their communication. Their comms are almost medieval to today's world, their presentations are too. I don't really know wny but that is a big part of the problem why people don't take them seriously. Because the product certainly is serious and great.

Oly EM10 II + Pana 100~300mm @ 300mm, moderately deep crop - hand held shot during a walk with the dog. The lens is OK for carry-about but IQ at the long end is just within the acceptable range and profits a lot from PP sharpening.

Man, gotta ditch this username.
We pitch the episodes to the DPReview team, they don't tell us what to make videos about. If they like the concept, we produce the episode, and then send it to the the team to check for inaccuracies or suggestions to improve the flow. Then it gets published.
There is no Amazon executive telling us what to talk about, but obviously we prioritize subjects that we think will help grow the audience.
I hope this helps clarify things a bit.

Yes that is another one of Nikon's annoyances. Then again this is mighty Nikon. The same Nikon that has been the staple of National Geographic photographers for decades. I do not like many things they do but I cannot forget that they are responsible for some of the most iconic images ever created.

I hope that ostentatious rich guys and bridezillas aren't going to make reasonably sized and priced cameras extinct. I think the subset of people who want a "dainty" camera they can afford and comfortably carry to photograph kids and trips and life vastly, overwhelmingly outweighs the number of people who think they're impressing someone with the camera equivalent of a Lamborghini.
Just look at the poll on this site asking which roadmapped Pentax gear you want. There were only two APS-C options, and they lapped the field because they're reasonably priced and sized and give you image quality that in most cases is indistinguishable from gear three times as expensive and large.

You know what's better than arguing on forums about who has the bigger sensor, the biggest lens, the better af, etc? To go out and shoot whatever pleases you and then come back on forums and discuss about the shooting experience. :) Let frustrated people talk about specs and about rankings. There is so much more than specs and rankings that photographers can talk about, but somehow most of the discussions end up with comparations about brands. :(
Here is an image that can be taken with any camera and a tele lens as long as you stay still for a few hours and endure the cold. After the experience from that day, I would have been very happy with the image even if the image would have been taken with a compact camera. Beeing in nature, observing birds in their natural habitat and having the chance to photograph them is far more interesting than what score got my camera on DXO or on which position is my camera in a top 100 cameras. |
