Did you try Alexander Titov profile for K-1? His profiles are usually much better then native ones, as for me. Here it is. |

Its getting harder and harder to find these. I believe that the people who DO get these kinds of lenses do not do so on impulse, as may happen with limiteds and DAs, given there is more "hooplaa" about those. I look at these lenses as somewhat premeditated purchases, with remote lilkelihood of buyer's remorse. As a result, fewer used onces come up for sale on this forum.
Keep an eye out for some returned pieces at some of our favorite stores, and you may snag an open box or demo version. Once the decision is made, keep the money aside, and keep looking - you may not have much time once you see it!

I shot the video. The Pentax cameras actually proved a challenge because the shutters are so well dampened. The Pentax you see has audio from a pitched down D700. We've always been big Pentax fans.

I was wondering what the interior of a lens look like particularly the screwdrive AF of a Pentax lens but I didn’t really want to dissect one. For those who are curious on what it looks like, I went ahead and x-rayed my DAL 18-55mm. Here are the images...

I didn't realize that an iPad was better than a computer running PS or Lightroom to edit photos. Steve sure knows how to hype an oversized ipod touch.

Thank you for the Apple ad.
This is digital processing, software and printing.... Unless the stupid thing runs Lightroom, why even bother mentioning it here.

First of all, everyone chimps. The problem is that some people take it to extremes.
Here are two pics I posted last summer in the aircraft section. The pics were taken by my wife. I appologize for the poor quality, she was trying not to laugh while she was taking them.
The subjects in question were using the spray and pray method. Furiously banging away for 20 or 30 shots on burst mode, then immediately checking to see if any were usable. Everyone in the vicinity thought it was hilarious.
Everyone chimps, just don't do it like a prat...:-) |

This is a common choice for an intentionally OOF image. Whilst pleasant, generally not so interesting and has limited appeal (and application). Nice colours. ;)

I think this thread deserves an award for containing the largest amount of incorrect, flawed and baseless guesses on a single page.
Fake ISO that results in a loss of dynamic range?!?
Lamp flicker at 1/30 shutter speed?!?
Limited CPU because of heat/size?!?
Are you people serious?!?!?!?
There's nothing magical about tiny exposure differences from one shot to the next when you're changing parameters!!! This is a complete non-issue!!!
edit: Obviously this is because of the magical gnomes that live inside the camera and operate the light meter. They require a daily feeding of Kraft Mac & Cheese to operate at peak efficiency. Otherwise these variances become more apparent. Just push a couple of pieces of Mac & Cheese pasta through the lens mount, squished up against the mirror. Then mount the lens and let the camera rest for 2 hours while the gnomes feast.

Just got the lens, no time to shoot yet. But so far the first impression is pretty good.
1. small and compact for its focal range.
2. very solid built with rugged surface finishing, feels better than the WR kit or DA1770.
3. AF is quiet and fast, definitely faster than most if not all the SDM lenses I've ever used (I've used them all), faster than most other AF lenses I've used too.
4. Aperture change w/ focal length: 18mm: F3.5, 19-28: F4, 29-68: F4.5, 69-135:F5.6. Pretty decent for a lens this small.
5. round aperture blades look promising, but need to test out.
6. focusing ring doesn't move during AF, and it's well placed closer to camera body, a smart move if you ask me, 'cause I'd probably never use MF w/ a lens like this.
7. did I say it's small? Oh yes, it's got a 62mm filter size, a bit odd for a Pentax lens, but all things are equal, smaller the better, right?
That's all for now. I'd do some test against the kit lens over the weekend.
