Thanks for the comments. Tried again last night but no luck. Nice moon but the clouds were rolling in fast. Tonight isn't going to be any better.

I got this last night in south central Kansas. K200 with Tamron 70-200, 4 sec exposure.
Sorry about all of the hot pixels, straight out of the camera no PP yet!
I'm pretty happy with it, my first comet!

Thanks for the input! We went ahead with the purchase and I couldn't be happier. The camera looks and works like new. Only about 500 clicks on the shutter.
I'm very happy my wife has entered the dslr world with such a nice rig. I will have her post some pics soon.

I'm supposed to go pick up a bright blue KX for my wife today, It comes with 18-55 kit lens and 100-300 Tamron zoom. Also comes with a sling bag. The price is 485. I think it sounds good, just wanted a second opinion. Seller says its very lightly used.
Thanks,
Jason

mustangjoey, I have a 80 trans am with a 468 bbc that runs 11.20s and a 76 datsun z car with sbc. I've only taken the z down the track once but I drove it to a 12.62 with a lot of traction issues. Some day I will get around to taking nice pictures of it to post up here.

Drag racing! Problem is I'm sometimes torn between driving my car or photographing everyone else.

Thanks again everyone for the comments! I am definitely learning a lot both from shooting more pics and from reading here. The only thing that kinda bums me out right now is that my snapshots seem to turn out better in just about every way than the shots that I take my time on. I keep telling myself that I'm still quite new to photography and it will come with time. I've made a few contacts around town with some semi-pro photogs and plan on tagging along on a few shoots to learn more about composition and lighting.
All I can really say is that I really like my new hobby. Unlike my other pastimes, this one can include the whole family and at the same time record the fun we have along the way.
Thanks again,
Jason

Thanks for the comments! Yes #2 is a priceless expression. Just to set the record straight, her grandmother was the cheapskate I had to make up the difference! lol
As to the under exposed shots, does the K200 tend to under expose or was it something I had set wrong? I believe those shots were in Av mode. Was I metering in the wrong area?
Thanks again for the comments,
Jason

Went on vacation to St Augustine FL last week and finally got to give my K200 a workout! All in all I'm happy with the pictures I took. The last day of the trip I tried to get a nice family portrait on the beach but the shots just didn't turn out as good as I hoped for. Harsh lighting and poor planing were mostly to blame I think. Anyway, here are a few that I liked. Please tell me what you think and how I might do better. The first three are with the kit lens and the last two are with a $10.00 50mm f2 (thanks Bo!)
Thanks for looking,
Jason

Simple question but could not find the answer I was looking for after searching. Can I install a genuine pentax m42 adapter in my k200d and just leave it there. I will be switching between m42 primes and newer k mount lenses. I would prefer not to have to install the ring each time I switch lenses.
Thanks for the help. I have learned much from this forum.

Thank you for the warm welcome! I'm still trying to digest all of the information I am finding here. I will post up some examples of what I have learned as soon as I get a few worthy shots.
I've started playing with PP and there is defiantly a learning curve. Wish me luck!

Hello,
My name is Jason and I am now the proud owner of a K200D. I have been browsing the forum for a few days now and am very impressed with the amount of info here.
Years ago I played around with my father's spotmatic and had a lot of fun with it but never got serious at all. Lately I have grown tired of my point and shoot so I took the leap into dslr.
I'm looking forward to getting this camera figured out so I can post up some shots and learn from this group.
