I was going to stay out of this completely but your dilemma has me concerned for you.
Below is a link to a photographer whose images weren't seen until after her death, as all her images were only taken for herself. She had nobody critiquing her work, so she wasn't influenced as to whether the images were good or bad, how they could be improved, or what subjects she should be photographing. So forget social media as it isn't the world you're immersed in. Look at other people's images that impress you without feeling a need to equal or do better. Enjoy your own experience and don't judge yourself with what other humans are doing, and never judge yourself on what the collective power of the internet (A.I.) can do.
Don't let machines make you feel inferior about being human. Keep taking photos!!! You Tube |

Thank you everyone for your input on this little experiment It is very much appreciated
Yes Rico using a tripod may have been a nice option, but sometimes using whatever is available as a substitute may produce surprisingly different results!
I actively encourage those who have followed this thread and have a camera with Pixel Shift to try and post their own comparison shots.

3 shots of the same scene done as (1) singe image, (2) HDR, or (3) Pixel Shift.Which do you prefer?
HDR Image created from 5 Bracketed images processed with Photomatix Essentials "Default" Setting with no added embellishment
Single Image and bracketed images shot "Hand Held" through Viewfinder
Handrail directly in front of previous images used to stabilize camera for Pixel Shift Image

I probably prefer the pixel shift, but as shown it and the first image are pretty close. The thing with pixel shift files is that they usually can be processed harder -- they have more detail in the shadows and less noise than typical RAW files.

I have found that my old screw mount 55mm f1.8 delivers excellent results on my Pentax DSLR cameras. As to the new D FA 50mm f1.4 lens I do not think that it is worth the cost. It is big and heavy and it is not 4 times better than other Pentax 50mm f1.4 lenses. Plus it has no aperture ring! Something I still like to see on a lens.
Why buy a $2,000 camera and put old lenses on it? Because some of the old lenses can still deliver. The extra dynamic range and resolution of the K1 also allows much better post processing options. I own a K5, K5-IIs, K3, K1 and K1-II and it was not until I got the K1 that I stopped missing film. To me, a sample size of one, neither the K5's or K3 delivered images that I considered any improvement over film. They are not bad cameras, but there was no WOW factor until I got my first K1.

You might be right. You can try renaming the file before uploading.

We even had a Pentax paid professional make that error and wondering why his colours weren't right on the forum, Katja, so don't worry too much about it!

Great pic, Katja!
Now you can see that the ground and area in front of the porch is just a big softbox, all your studio principles come into play.

I think you have made a damn fine effort here. Also, you have opened yourself up to constructive criticism and should be applauded for both. You have been given some excellent advice from some very talented folks, so it would surely benefit you to practice. My question to you is: According your file photo, you are a very attractive young lady, with pretty long hair. Why hide both from the viewers by stuffing your hair under a cap? Again, wonderful effort and I am sure you will be doing great things in the near future. Thanks. Tonytee.

I like your look here. I don't like the distractions of the stuff behind you. I look at the background more than you. I don't see a connection between the background and you so why have it?

Do you have the room (or space) where you can place the mirror? I would place the tripod behind the mirror, so I can see myself and control the light and posing, focusing on some subject instead of me first, set aperture around -4+ and do test shooting.

This must be something in the studio setup the way you control your strobes I guess. There was no flash in the hot shoe, or it didn't fire. I am not a studio photographer. Maybe you could open a topic in this forum: Flashes, Lighting, and Studio - PentaxForums.com |

Be careful - a lot of flashes have very little delay but a max of X shots at X power even when not imposed by the charging system. This is to prevent overheating components inside the flash or wiring. I'd read fully the whole manual before assuming you can blast away without limits. ---------- Post added 03-01-18 at 04:26 PM ---------- I just read the manual - not seeing any warnings - wow! Cool find.

Received the package and am still reading the manual but have charged the battery and OMG, there is no delay between flash firings! It can apparently just fire one shot after the other w/out stopping or taking a breath. I am going to like this flash :)

Well, patience is not one of my virtues, so I got one of these earlier today, can't wait to see how it does. I intend to try it with the LX and with the K-3.

There are many flashes that are not meant for hot-shoe mounting (e.g., Godox AD 200) and many more which work well when not mounted using the hot-shoe.
Are you specifically looking for a "potato masher"?
Or for a flash with an integrated flash bracket?
If not, then there are many more options.

Napoleon and his army were in Bratislava in 1805. This soldier is supposed to have been going through Bratislava when he fell in love with a local girl, stayed in the city and became a producer of sparkling wine. His name was Hubert – which is also the name of Slovakia’s most popular sparkling wine’s brand.

Hey,
this beautiful shot was taken when we were invited to drink thee with a Nepalese family in the village Nar during our hiking holiday. I like the light effects that is in contrast with the dark room.
Hope you like it!

This was taken a Ren Faire in CT. The background is a food truck. She was facing the truck and I waited for her to turn around for about 3 minutes. This was the first shot taken of her. She had no clue that she was being photographed. The next two photo in my camera were her starting to smile and a full on smile. Those are good but this is the best look in my eyes. This is a true Portrait of a Stranger who now I have come to know do to the Power of Pentax.

I don`t know what is more dominant...the neon green or the snake itself. Apologies to those who are ophidiophobic. |
