Dogs are great. We just had to put an old one down and our other one is on her last legs.
We changed horses in the middle of the stream and now have Sam, the world's smallest ranch dog. Sorry about the lousy picture

Like you never made an insult?

Earlier in this thread you stated.

So what changed your mind?

Couldn't figure out what camera and lens you used for your shots since the exif info was stripped from them.

Did you train those dogs yourself?;)

How about this one from earlier???

I can guarantee you anytime someone dares bring up threads on Pentax cameras shooting sports you will always drag the naysayers in telling you that you better invest in expensive cameras and expensive lenses that will do the job so much better. Who cares if you have a budget or a family to feed?

Ask Wheatfield do drag out his sports photos. Oh ya, he says he hates sports!

Now picture your car payments, car insurance, gas bill and ask yourself if it is worth it?
So picture yourself with a heavy expensive camera with an expensive heavy lens and ask yourself is that what your really want?

Now review this thread:

Frame rate?
Frame rate - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I am awaiting much higher frame rates than 10FPS. That is so yesterday! Of course we are probably going to have to go to electronic view finders to do so.

This thread direction was as predictable as snow in January. Most of us have chosen Pentax for a reason. Either build quality, lenses, price performance ratio, in body image stabalization etc or all of the above.

Not to deny the other makers ability in the sporting arena, but then again you need to spend big bucks to get fast glass with in lens stabilization and a camera body with 10FPS.

Just because I am late for an appointment doesn't mean I have to trade my Honda in for a Porshe, when the Honda does what I want 99.9 percent of the time.

I am not going to invest huge money into a camera system when the one I have works just fine for 99.9 percent of what I want to do including sports! You can always chase the latest and greatest but tomorrow someone will always up the ante.

I beg to differ. Calling people names and using epitaphs not only speaks volumes about your lack of debating skills but your personal integrity.

You don't like my arguments and think they are weak. That is your viewpoint, but instead of putting people down and swearing at them I suggest you refine your debating skills.

I would even go so far as to suggest that you go out and take some photographs.

I respectively suggest you take an anger management class. Those who start using epitaphs to make their argument have already lost.

Or you can look at it the other way around too. Does having a higher frame rate per second or a much larger memory card lead to superior photos or make most people better photographers?
Sure equipment is important but is it 90 percent of the equation, 50 percent 10 percent or what?
Once you get to a certain level of equipment, for most photos I believe it is 90 percent photographer and 10 percent equipment.
If your composition is poor, the lighting is poor and your timing is poor, it doesn't matter if you have the most expensive lenses and camera body in the world.
Are photos so much better today than in the film era?
How many people go out and take hundreds of photos using the continuous, and then get home and spend hours deleting photos, and still don't have one that they feel proud of? Quantity doesn't make for quality.
Obsessing over gear only gets one so far, unless that is what turns them on. Not that there is anything wrong with that.
Why should one have to throw out ones equipment just because the AF lags behind another or because the FPS is "not up to snuff".
You take the attitude that either you should be drawing with charcoal or you must get the highest speced camera. That argument doesn't cut it either. For me it is the journey and trying to get over the face paced lifestyle that so consumes us that got me back into photography, and not the latest and greatest equipment.

You don't have to go to other forums to find Pentax bashers and Canon fanboys. They are right here!

Your comment to jeweltrail is uncalled for. I know him and he is a stand up person and very helpful.
What have you contributed to this thread vis a vis helping people get better sport shots with their Pentaxes other than suggesting they buy a used
Canon and lens for $2,000??

Going through all these posts, it appears there are two camps. Those that can take action photos with Pentax gear and those that are convinced or wish to convince others that they need to look elsewhere.
I think the original post and intent of this thread is lost on many who want to push their other brands superiority down the rest of our throats.
A camera is what it is. I have looked at other forums and there are many complaints about canons too not focusing correctly etc. I have read an article that Sony blows away other brands for focus accuracy, yet no one is pushing Sony here.
All of the photos posted here are really nothing special.
I think people come here to best find out how to use the equipment they have and I would dare say on a Pentax forum it might just be a Pentax! So instead of exchanging ideas on how to get the best results with the brand in question, several posters are trotting out their Canon shots. If gear is so important why stop with a low megapixel 40d? I am sure both Canon and Nikon and perhaps Sony offer superior models that have better focusing, greater burst modes, higher megapixels and even FF for lower noise at high ISOs. Then we can get into lenses. A 70-200 lens won't allow you to do a lot in many action sports or birding. You need longer lenses and a fast lens and a lens with IS. That is going to put most people in the poor house.
So lets say you have Pentax gear and wish to occasionally shoot sports. Why not make the most of what you have vs. switching brands?
I am sure as has been the trend in this thread that instead of giving constructive advice on how best to use the gear that most people have here, that the canon boys will keep trotting out their arguments ad naseum.

Raise the bar some more and try that with a fly. Don't those dragonflys hover at times?
