Some photos taken in Green Cay Wetlands in July this year. 1) Wood Stork in Profile, a face only a mother could love. 2) Anhinga with back lighting and cypress tree in the background. 3) Coopers Hawk on dead cypress tree, scouting for meal. 4) Spider Lily under Cypress Trees.

Tri-colored heron in breeding plumage, Wakodahatchee Wetlands. This was my first outing with my travel telephoto lens. On trips I take my compact Tokina ATX 840 80-400mm F4.5-5.6 lens for telephoto use, works well even with 1.5X Kenko teleconverter auto focusing even at 400mm. The auto focus, even though it uses the screw drive, seemed faster then my Sigma 150-500mm HSM.

My first trip in the field with K-3 and Sigma 150-500mm F5-6.3 DG APO HSM lens together. Like the change of focus from multi to spot better then the K-5. Also like the ability to set FX button to turn Shake Reduction on and off for catching Birds In Flight.

Today in Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge I observed two Hawks refurbishing the nest they used last year. I also observed them mating. Looks like they are planning to use the same location they successfully raised two chicks last year.
