Last week we finished filming a documentary for the first comics magazine in Bulgaria (1979-1992).
Cameras were Canon 5D Mark II and Pentax K-1. The K-1 was given to me by Pentax Bulgaria. It was a demo camera (firmware 0.52).
We filmed for 5 days - studio and out.
I used mainly PENTAX 77/1.8 but also DA 40 XS, M42 Flectogon 35/2.4 and PENTAX K 135/2.5. All the shots in the studio are 500-800 ISO.
The CROP mode in video is really useful.
Here is a link to some footage (1 min). https://www.dropbox.com/s/mhwfxi5iy0iaagk/DUGA-PENTAX-K-1.mp4?dl=0
(better to download the video to watch in better quality)

I've tried K-3 for just about 15 minutes, but with the SR - on the jello effect is there at 1080/25p. The video is slightly better than K-01 (witch I have and use for video).
When I switched to 1080/50i (SR still on) the jello effect is gone. Yes, the video is interlaced, but that's "fixable".
The bitrate of all the videos I shot (about 10) at 1080/25p and 1080/50i are 18-19 Mbits.

Well, I presume it's just a typo or to indicate that the speed is fast. ... or maybe in Europe they will introduce a model with USB3. :)

There is no place in specs or press-release that says "hi-speed". :)

Compatible with USB 3.0 for faster image transfer.
*On the standard, 10.7 times faster than USB 2.0.

The video codecs are not selectable!
H.264 is for normal video recording and MJPEG is for Interval video recording. There is no 14 bit RAW video. There is no USB3 video output during recording but there is HDMI output. Is it uncompressed? I don't know yet.
There is another big thing about interval video but you'll have to wait 2 more hours. :)

Thank you for your kind words.
In fact it's very easy to shoot kids with the yellow brick - they act natural and don't feel shy from the camera at all. On the other hand the adults (which happened to me several times) are looking suspicious ... till the moment they see the final result and then they go "Wow, that really came from that yellow thingy?"
I really like that moments. :)

I have one and there is analog output while recording video. The LCD screen works at the same time too. PAL resolution but it's usable for just monitoring.

Only K and M lenses do AUTO ISO. All other - A, FA, DA work perfect in Manual Video. Tested with A 50/1.7, FA 77/1.8, DA 40, DA21, A 35-70/4, A 35-105/3.5...

In Manual Mode and with an M lens the ISO is always in AUTO mode, unfortunately.
If you use A, FA, DA lens everything works as it should be.
Hope this helps.

I have the same problem and I'm waiting for solution from Pentax.
Other than that I think the problem is not with the manual control (shutter or aperture). Based on some tests I've done the problem is with the ISO - even if I set the ISO to specific number, it's still in AUTO. And that's the real problem.

The most challenging photo since I got the K-01 is the first one - with K 500/4.5 handheld. There is a big forest fire close to where I live as you can see in the night photo (again handheld 75-150/4 @150mm). The B/W photo is again with 500mm but this time on a tripod.
Other photos are from the World Championships in Aerobic Gymnastics. AF all the time and no problems.
For me it's a little easier to shoot action with K-01 because my face is not glued to the viewfinder and it's really easy to look where the action is and point the camera in that direction. :)
For the last shot I just pre-focused on the bench and waited for my son to jump. Really easy. :)

Definitely, YES! The yellow one.
I'm shooting with DA 21, DA 40 and FA 77 only. K-01 will fit perfectly.

Where is the surprise?
You'll see the surprise when you compare high ISO shots from K-5 to high ISO shots from current FF cameras of other companies. Better/same with N* D700 and C*5D2.
That's quite a surprise at least for me.
The structure of the noise is very fine, like film grain and not like the noise we've seen so far by any Pentax camera.

I really don't get the negativity about this model.
I see it like this:
The biggest retail music store in Japan decided to make something new. They wanted a colorful camera. Who does colored cameras? Pentax. OK, lets order 1000 rainbow colored cameras, which shows "No music, no life" on it's welcome screen. Done.
How long it took for Pentax to do it? I guess 1 week (probably less). Is it worth? Yes!
Because this camera is not targeted at us (photographers). I think it's more than clear.
Because photographers do not look for cameras at music stores!
This camera will be sold only at the online store of Tower records, where no other cameras are sold. Perfect.
I think it's a very good marketing opportunity which they took advantage.

It's the prototype of the new wide-angle lens.
I'm also wondering about the knobs?
