Strapless as well, I've had many scary moments where my strap has got caught on door handles, corners of tables etc and nearly yanked the camera outof my hand. My cat also loves grabbing any dangling straps etc and has nearly had my camera on the floor a few times now...
I keep my camera tucked away in my little Crumpler Muffin Top if I'm out and about, I don't feel the need to advertise my camera and it provides a bit more protection from knocks and the elements.

My latest macro project: the life of a soap bubble!!! Bigger version Bigger version Bigger version Bigger version
#1. A perfect mix of water and glycerine on the bubbles surface. The swirl is caused by the air current made by turning the focussing ring!
#2. The layers start to get more turbulent and start seperating out
#3. The glycerine and water are now starting to come out of solution, you get these amazing looking blobs moving towards the bottom of the bubble
#4. The blobs settle at the very base of the bubble, the black is my background card seen through the now transparent bubble. Time to move my lens as the bubble will shortly burst!
Enjoy

Love the "Flamingo" shot, it really appeals to me but I can't put my finger on the reason why!

I use a bendy necked LED lamp, usually postioned just behind the lens pointing at the subject, ghetto macro lighting! The DVD shots you have to vary the lighting postion to get the best refraction on the DVD surface, it's all trial and error but thats the fun of it all.

Been a wet and miserable weekend here, a perfect opportunity to bust out the macro lens and a bottle of fizz:

Hmm, my smc-m 50mm 1.7 is now my "grab to go" choice of lens for general photography, portrait and especially low-light / night shooting. I've recently installed a split prism focus screen and it makes using my manual lenses a real joy.
The IQ is superb as is the colour rendition and you can always crop images as the IQ is that good, PLUS it's always overcast / raining etc here in the UK, so that fast shutter speed is a must!

Thanks Jim, the kit 55-200mm lens is pretty damned sharp and I think possibly one of the best kit lenses out there.

My old school B&W method
1) Desaturate image
2) Create duplicate layer using current image
3) Filter > Other > High pass - 10 pixels
4) Layer Style > Blending Options - General Blending = Hardlight 80% opacity
5) Curves tweak (Highlights and lowlights)
6) Flatten image |

I had the exact same issue with a lovely SMC 28/2.8 lens I just bought. After a bit of googling I found various instructions (none of them specific to my problem), but I repaired it by:
1. Unscrew the decorative ring (the one that says "Ashai Pentax SMC 28:2.8")
2. You will see three tiny screws, these hold on the the filter ring. Remove these and remove the filter ring (this just pulls off).
3. Now you'll see 3 screws spaced equally on top of the focus ring. Move the focus to infinity. Carefully loosen (DO NOT REMOVE) the 3 screws. Turn the focus ring AWAY from the infinty mark (making sure the lens assy doesn't move) by a few degrees and then tighten ONE screw.
4. Now move the focus back to infinity, the len assy should have moved a fraction further in towards the sensor.
5. Attach lens to camera and try to focus to infinity.
6. Rinse / repeat steps 3 - 5 until you can get sharp focus at infinity.
7. Once you're happy with the focus, tighten all 3 screws, re-attach the filter ring, screw in the decorative ring.
I set mine to focus just past infinity and it's hardly impacted the shorter focal distances.
It's easier to do then explain. Basically as you move the focus ring you'll see which way the lens assy moves, you just need to make the lens assy move a smidgen more towards the camera sensor.

Hello fellow Penatxians and Samsungonians!! Proud owner of a GX10, which is my first dSLR and my introduction to the world of "proper" photography. This is a great forum and a total mine of information (some of it is even useful ;) ) and I think I've got the bug for old Pentax glass, just bought my first "M" series lens and I'm watching a load more on eBay (just don't tell the wife!!).
