You seem to have a lot of issues with AF - I recall a recent sale thread of an FA 43 with AF issues that resolved itself somehow? Maybe something else is going on. Could be as simple as the electrical contacts on your camera/lens are dirty.

The Pentax warranty doesn’t cover drops but it’s unlikely the lens suffered damage. Nothing you’re saying is suggestive of damage.

Samyang/Rokinon 85mm f1.4 on Pentax MX/ME

No, it's been years since I've owned either.

The MX obviously balances better with smaller M-series prime lenses but it works just fine with this lens as well.

The only downside of the Rokinon 85mm is the focus ring is quite a bit stiffer than what we're used to with Pentax lenses. Otherwise it works quite well on manual focus bodies. The aperture window works great!

Really all they need to build is the MZ-D that was prototyped decades ago. I love the MZ-S's ergonomics. The only downside is the lack of aperture ring on most of the modern lenses, they'd have to figure something out for that. Not a problem for me, I'd basically glue a 31mm Limited to my MZ-D.

Many enlargers do, for example so that you can project onto a wall for bigger enlargements than the base plate allows.

Sensor cleaning the K1?

I've had good luck with just using a rocket blower. Put camera in sensor cleaning mode or bulb exposure mode, hold upside down, stick rocket blower in the throat, and pump air in vigorously for a few seconds. Thus far I've not needed to touch a sensor on any of my cameras with a swab or anything.

My advice is start with least invasive to most invasive. Least invasive - invoke the camera's built in ultrasonic cleaner a few times. Then move to rocket blower. Then investigate the swabs/O-ICK kit, etc.

New Monitor Report - Dell U2724D

I have used and recommended the various models of Dell 27" 1440P Ultrasharp monitors for years now. They have some drawbacks, notably IPS glow and at least some of the models have fairly slow response times - I am not sure if they've fixed that over the years. Generally not an issue for photo or general use, mostly an issue if you plan to do gaming as well.

If you also do gaming then the 120Hz model is definitely worth pursuing, but make sure you aren't sacrificing elsewhere to get the faster panel. For example are you giving up color gamut or contrast.

Those lenses are completely different than the ones I'm talking about - not even comparable, so not sure the point you're trying to make.

I wonder if they plan to reintroduce chemistry that was discontinued over the years like Selectol or D-76R.

ChromeOS Flex is just a way to install ChromeOS on commodity PC hardware, it doesn't give you any more flexibility. You're still limited to ChromeOS "apps".

What film developer do you use now?

Eco Pro chemistry is good, I have never had any problems with it. Best on the market? Maybe not, depending on what you're doing. A lot of schools are using it nowadays because of the lower toxicity.

First I've heard of it.

Frankly I do generally prefer matte paper, or at least an eggshell. But when you want dark inky blacks you need glossy.
