Get close and closer for best quality shots no matter the length of your lens or it's quality, the improvement is staggering. Getting good bird photos is tricky and like any specialty and is assisted by good tools but many of my best pics are from being set up in the right place and waiting for the shot to develop. At least 400 mm of lens is a must with 300 mm just shy of useful for good feather detail. Other than that just shoot ,shoot and shoot till you get the feel.

I recently was asked by a local non-profit that I have done work for over the years if I was interested in showing at an upcoming outdoor fair they are holding with the city along the river. Not having done this type of thing I am looking for advice and general information from any one who has show their work at these type shows
Arts and Crafts fairs that start in April and run during the spring are always looking for people to show and sell their work. I want to ask if there is any general consensus on how much work is involved compared to the amount of earnings in these type venues for photographers?
Also what the best way to show is for this type venue?
Does it make sense to gear up for just one show or is the cost prohibitive without doing numerous shows? I imagine prints are the best sellers matted in plastic but wonder if the profit margin is worth the work and expense involved.
Any advice or comments would be much appreciated.
Thanks ; Kenn

Dale, your friend did you a great service as the a series 35-105 is one of (if not the best) zoom (macro)lenses made by Pentax and is worth an easy 200 on the second market if in decent condition. The colors and sharpness are incredable so use it and get used to it and your work will smile for the effort.

Are you sure the power source you are using is compatible (110-120 v ac) ?
Also if the light is not on it may still be charging your battery as the little light can die on the charger(in theory) without it stopping the charger from working.Make sure the two metal tines are up and retract when you push on them. There is very little that can go wrong with these chargers. I hope you get it working.

So correct awo425 ! I looked at so many that I confused my self and bought the wrong one than waited 7 weeks for it (oy vey).
Ended up getting one from the Pentax store for 28$ that was in stock and received it in 3 days. The great folks at B&H allowed me to return the other one (as I don't have a 100 or 110 )for a refund.
Mystery solved.

The packaging says PEEFK100D/30147 below that it says eyecup fo f/K100D/110D DIGITAL CAM. I got it from B&H and think they made a mistake unless the same eyecup fits all three . If that is so I would think it might say so on the package.

After waiting 10 weeks for B&H to get a replacement eyecup to me for my K10D today the UPS man delivered an eyecup that does not seem to be correct and certainly does not want to stay on the camera.
It says on the package that it is the proper one and I am wondering if anybody else has had a problem getting their eyecup onto the camera .Is there a trick I am missing perhaps?Help

Admittedly I find most of my long shots are of birds but the other 2/3rd's of them have a variety fo subjects from frozen rivers to four legged critters. All photos from Tokina 80-400 at 400mm.

If you really want to shoot in an environment that requires fast acurate focus you need to switch to a diferent brand like Nikon or Canon as the K10D is just as slow as a glacier melting in winter :0) Don't get me wrong here. I love my camera and have learned to work with this disability as best I can but when your in the woods and a Great Horned Owl is flying right at you it can be a very frustrating experience to end up with so many poorly focused shots.

The bag is great but I have no lungs left all in all and the chance of me hiking farther than the end of the street are slim at best so....
This great bag in like new condition needs to go. What can I say? It is a great bag - $75.00 shipped conus.

Of course the other (read less costly)solution is to focus by eye when using the x2 extender on a slower lens. Takes a bit of practice to get used to going this way but the results are much more consistent than trying to trust the AF to do something other than wind in and out hunting for the shot.
