I giggled at the comments regarding 2021 release and laughed out loud at this 2024 reference.

If willing to accept missed flash, shoot full manual (flash and bodY) with the flash set to short duration.
I am not a fan of PTTL flash and am currently shootiing auto flashes along and trigger units that provide flash ready dedication.
If PTTL is a requirement, up the ISO and or drop the distance.

In regards to my previous post some months agp regarding terminal illness(LINK), it seemed that an update is in order. I was informed this week that my efforts to secure a lung transplant have failed (too debilitated too survive the procedure). In response, I have shifted my focus to palliative care and (eventually) hospice with an emphasis to leave as many traces of myself as I can before bidding this world one last smile of farewell.
As for Pentax Forums, those traces will likely run like this:- Legacy Flash Review section for the Vivitar 3500 (was posted as a stub, but apparently removed by the mods.) There will also be a full article in the lighting subforum.
- My notes (full forum article) and camera review of the Pentax *ist D.
- Gear...yes, that reads GEAR,
I am instructing the executor of my estate to limit offers of my stuff to the market place on this site. Many things will be offered free for cost of shipping. In addition, I also intend to gift several items, some quite desirable, to Pentax Forum for use as contest prizes and other site promotion feature. I have yet to spring this plan on them. I am sure they will be thrilled. ;)
Y'all here at PF are an amazing bunch and have been so good to me. My daughter will post a final fair-well after my demise.

'Tis true. The detailed lists are gone. The new mantra is to measure the voltage for any flash on which there is doubt and be aware of the limits of shoes in your kit. That said, users here may provide useful information to the community by adding measured trigger voltages to flash descriptions when reviewing or recommending vintage flashes.

It appears that RAW is very good at sparking conversations here on PF.
FWIW...My full appreciation of shooting RAW only came as I explored multiple interpretations of the same capture with our modern tools.

Welcome to the Pentax Forums!
The short answer is yes, it will re-yellow. The thoriated glass remains radioactive and the yellow color conversion continues, even as one takes measures to bleach the historic yellowing.

As noted above, TTL flash support on the AF 140C is limited to the original "analog" protocol TTL from the early 1980s. While the list of supporting Pentax cameras is actually fairly long*, dSLR support is limited to the *istD series** with all later dSLRs being limited to P-TTL.
Steve
* While the list bodies offering analog TTL proto only is fairly short, many AF film bodies also provide backward support for analog TTL flash.
** The *istD series bodies are part of a select club of Pentax cameras that support all form of TTL and flash dedication ever offered by the brand.

Interesting that you should make this observation. I own both Pentax-M and Pentax-A variants of the 50/1.7 and have long felt the same way about the "A" model.
The M 50/1.7, OTOH, remains one of my favorite lenses and I have no reservations about offering a blanket recommendation to anyone considering purchase of a well-preserved copy. Go figure, eh?

Given the plethora of mounts supported by different J-9 models, it may be that the lens is is native bayonet mount. Nah...I suspect something, perhaps a Frankenlens based on the Automat version.

For your K-1II, pp 100-102 in the user manual should be helpful.
Take particular note of the settings that may be saved and how to review the settings after they are saved.
Note too that what was saved when the User mode was created are how it stays until saved again with different settings.

One would think so, on both points. The addition of AW seals on the O-GPS2 is a huge improvement. A little smaller form factor and provision for external power would be great too.

A package arrived yesterday from Adorama that I truly thought I would never see. Several months ago, Pentax announced EOL for the O-GPS1 unit for hot-shoe mounted GPS and Astrotracer function on selected Pentax dSLR cameras. Six months went by and O-GPS1 stock began to disappear from the usual online vendors' stock. On a whim this last November 11, I checked out Adorama and noticed that they were offering them as backordered at the regular price of $196.95 USD. I figured there was no harm in seeing whether they might be able fulfill and since the O-GPS-2 was probably a year or more away, it may have some value if it ever shows.
A quick look with Google this evening and it is possible that I may be able to double my money or more*. Who would have known. :o:o:o

This question was bandied around at length after the K-3's introduction. My memory is that the K-3 may have more more noise for combinations of ISO and subject, but that detail capture is generally better on the K-3. For direct comparison, K-3 noise performance is equivalent to the K-5 series cameras when the K-3 image is downsized to 16 megapixel.
As for my personal practice, I own the K-3 and address potential noise issues the same as I would on any other camera. I don't push the envelope and expect miracles nor do I do much NR in PP (I don't own dedicated NR software). Below is an ISO 6400 example...
One can click through to view higher resolution at Flickr.
Same evening, same subject, wider view...ISO 200
Nominal base ISO for both cameras is ISO 100. Rumor is that it is actually ISO 200 on the K-3. I generally shoot my K-3 at 200.

That last is a wise decision. Anecdotal word is that at least some Pentax dSLR bodies will tolerate 24V, but that the accepted "safe" zone is <=10V.
Thank you for checking the Autorobo.

I use mine all the time with my K-3.
The AF280T is a popular option for Pentax dSLR owners interested in a voltage-safe flash with a usable dedication on both current and vintage cameras. PENTAX AF 280T reviews - Pentax Camera Accessory Review Database
My exhaustive review may be viewed HERE Added: As noted above, rule of thumb is that film-era Pentax-brand flash are voltage safe on Pentax-brand cameras. Note: There is some question regarding whether the Autorobo is safe on all Pentax dSLRs.

To be honest, I am pretty sure I have used my *istD that way without even thinking about it. :o:o:o
