There is no problem to use Digikam under Gnome. Just install it, and synaptic will also install a part of the KDE libs. You won't see it, if won't disturb you.

Digikam is a real nice, powerful software. I use it with RawTherapee, and sometimes The Gimp. The whole runs under Ubuntu/Gnome.

I have walked for hours under heavy rain, under snow, and I never put my K10 into the bag. I was «wearing» a DA* 50-135. I saw «pros» ( I was in Hamburg on the day of the big storm last year) hide their cameras under their jacket, or in the bag, and I kept going.

I believe I will have to go inside before my camera.

There is something in Germany : it's called «Basis-Check gratis!»

In the five years, you can have one «check» for free. It includes a «function check», one «sensor cleaning», and firmware pgrade.

Again, it's a «one shot», but it is already something.
