A great resource is the Honest Guide channel on YouTube. HONEST GUIDE - YouTube
For the city use public transport, if you do not have roaming data get a local sim card and use the public transport app, it save dealing with change and languages buying tickets.
When you get on a tram/bus or subway you just have to activate a virtual ticket which remains active for a period of time (45 minutes from memory)
I was there last October and loved the place

Time exposures with K-10D.

Is the noise much of a problem, is it possible\easy to run your own dark frame in post production?
If so does the dark frame need to be the same exposure as the image or will any dark frame suffice?

Cheers

k200 Battery life when doing star trails

Yes the K200 does the dark frame substraction (but I turn it off). When I last went out the batterys dropped 1 minute short of a 12 minute shot!, the batteries already had some use.
Spare set was on hand and a car came from nowhere and flared the whole scene on the second attempt!
Started to get cold so went back to the hotel.

High noise in night photography with K20D

OT but just looking at the shots, no noise apparent to me, but the slow shutter and the fast moving smoke/steam is making some really nice results.
I am trying to get this effect with clouds in some nightshots but getting the right cloud cover and wind is proving elusive for me so far.

Anybody here have experience of how long a set of fully charged Enerloops in a K200 on bulb should last?
The air is starting to cool and become clear in these parts so I hope to get some more startrail shots.

Cheers

I have being shown a creek with glow worms on the banks not far from where I live. Has anyone tried making photos of these, I hope to get some detail of the surrounding with avalaible light but not too much to wash out the glow form the worms.

System requirements for lightroom

Just mentions P4 win XP etc not CPU speed for minimum or recommended (like on come games.
I am running the 30 day trial, on my home PC it runs like a dog (P4 2.8) but the system does has issues so Lightroom may not be to blame.
My work laptop is a much faster machine and runs it alot better but the home PC is where I need it.
IT looks like its reasonably friendly software without the "when running xxx brand" issues.
So I think a middle road CPU with middle grade graphics and pair of mirrored big as possible drives should suit.

Can anyone advise of the minimum spec for a PC to run lightroom reasonably well. I like the software but need to get my system up to speed before spashing out on software.
Has anyone had experiences good or bad with different video cards etc.
Budget is an issue so I hope to get it right first time.

cheers

After years of carefree swapping lenses without a problem (apart from sand scratching the film in Jordan) I now have dust on the sensor paranoia!!!
Is this justified, do I need help or just harden up and get over it!!!
How often does dust become an issue? I am pretty aprehensive about going anywhere near the sensor.
Does the dust removal work well on the k200.
feel free to tel me as it is, tough love is the best.

Welcome to the forum, I also am new and this forum appears very friendly compare to othere with the endless Canon vs Nikon arguments. I am curently on vacation in the Netherlands, the subtle lighting on the could formations are amazing here (compared to the strong direct lighting in NZL), I hope to capture a decent image, lighting forcast tomorrow which should be fun.

I saw an attractive woman using a k10 the other day, I went to her and said with a cheeky grin "nice body!!!" She looked a bit taken back until I flashed my own "nice body" k200. And we had a nice chat.

That aside the most important thing when shooting is the brain, I have a friend who shoots circles around me with a cheap P&S. I look forward to her shots when she gets some nicer gear that can accomodate her vision.

The LX, nice prime lens, everything exactly the same, except a digital back so I can capture at what ever ISO suits.
Those old cameras look so good!

I plan to get a ND and a Pol to fit the new lens when coin is avaliable. On the flip side I LOVE not having to grab the tripod whenever things are even slightly overcast.
Does anyone have recomendations on polarizers, is the Hoya Pro worth the extra cost to the Hoya green label?

Finally gone digital with a k200 2 weeks ago. Loving all the features and a great camera for my needs.
I used to shoot alot of misty waterfalls and trails with Velvia 50.
The lowest ISO on the k200 is 100 and some other cameras only go down to 200.
Do others here miss going slow or does speed rule?
