another use for a camera, and it must work pretty good to!

Chicago police put out a community alert on a costumed attacker who tried sexually assaulting a woman in the city's North Center neighborhood, but who was fought off with a camera.

The attack occurred at about 3:15 a.m. Sunday in the 2300 block of West Addison Street, police said in the alert.

The victim was walking when the man, wearing a zebra-striped orange and black Halloween costume, grabbed the woman from behind and dragged her into a gangway.

The attacker tried assaulting the woman, but the victim fought back, using her camera she was carrying, police said. The attacker finally fled when the victim's friend came to her aid.

The attacker is described in the alert as a black man, between 27 and 30 years old, about 6 foot 1, weighing 180 pounds with short black hair, brown eyes, a dark complexion and goatee. The man had a cut on the corner of his left eye near his temple that he suffered during the attack.

Anyone with information is asked to call Belmont Area detectives at 312-744-8261.

there was a show on the Nation Geographic Channel called "Climbing Redwoods" that I watched and this was in the show. I wish they would have gotten into depth a little more though, there is going to be a 5 page spread of this mighty Redwood in a up coming edition of the National Geographic Magazine, so if you are interested in seeing the printed picture of the result of this contraption keep your eyes peeled for a new copy of that magazine. it took them 21 days to photograph that tree as well.

i wish i could remember where i saw this interview with a pentax rep., but he was asked the same question and his answer was it could not only handle a rain shower but a hurricane, but he wouldn't recommend standing in a hurricane. makes you wonder if he was just blowing smoke you know where. I will try to find this video and post the link.

I really like this picture, it looks like a simple picture with buildings along the water but the closer you look the more it holds your interest into looking for more, thats how i found the manikin (lets hope thats what it is anyway) hanging out of the window:eek:. It's in the lower left corner. I love little things hidden in pictures like that. Great picture!
