No way, not enough new or useful features to justify that, I would rather spend the money on a new lens or filter system.

If you are photographing a static shot, as in the flowers stem, why are you using ISO 3200? Surely a tripod and longer exposure would be better?

Good comments. First and foremost it has to be said that the K1 is designed to be a great landscape camera and not much else. That's not to say you couldn't shoot weddings or wildlife (I separate landscape from wildlife) or models but it's probably not the best choice out there for those genres. As for lenses, accepting the above, how many do you need for landscape photography? As a landscape shooter I admit to bias, but this is by far the best DSLR I have ever owned and I ditched a Nikon D800 and Nikkor 14-24 to get it!

The OP also asked about raw v jpeg.
Anyway we could argue for ten years about the creative process applied to photography. My stance is that photography (excluding sports, journalistic etc) is a creative process and I am sure that all the great photographers through the ages (and presently) would classify them selves as artists. Capturing a technically perfect image is just recording. The best analogy I can think of is a butterfly collector v Monet. Sorry if this offends anyone, that is not my intention just my point of view.
This could be a whole thread so apologies to the OP for side tracking.

If you don't post process your images you are only performing half of the photography process and it's pretty hard to justify using a K1 just to shoot Jpegs. Photography is a creative process (or should be). IMHO.

Another point of view is that the K1 is not meant to be a camera for all genres. As far as I can tell it is primarily designed to be a landscape camera, a job it does to perfection. If it is not capable of performing adequately for the use you are putting it to, maybe it's just not the right camera?

Samyung is $320 AUD here, so yeah well over my budget. Read the original post for the explanation of why I want a portrait lens!

Thanks guys, I should have mentioned that AF would be preferred but I guess I could consider MF at a pinch. Will have a look at the suggestions.
Had a look at all those. In Australia the prices are higher unfortunately. The Samyang looks good but way over budget, same with the DA 70 and the Mitakon is way over in the Pentax mount. Most camera shops here do not stock Pentax mount lenses.

Well, a pretty simple question on the face of it but now I am going to complicate things a bit!
The back story.
I have basically retired from "commercial" photography to concentrate on landscapes. I recently sold my Nikon gear and could only really afford the K1 and one lens. I chose the Irix 15mm which has proved to be a wise choice.
Of course, as Murphy's Law decrees no sooner had I sold my only portrait lens I get two requests for family photo shoots. Now it's not a lot of money (about $550 AUD total for both), however I thought it might be worthwhile purchasing a cheap but suitable portrait lens which I could pay for from the proceeds and leave me something in the kitty.
So the question.
Assuming a budget of about $150 maybe max of $200 what lens would fit the bill? Note that it would have to be sourced from Australia.
I posted this in the K1 section as the lens has to suit FF. I have looked at lots of option but just got more confused as I went on!

For the sharpest UWA lens it's hard to go past the Irix 15mm f2.4. I have owned some very good lenses but, his one is the sharpest lens for landscapes that I have used. For portraits the Sigma 85mm is about as sharp as it gets.

Are you using live view? I have found the camera seems to slow down when using live view, almost as though it's using a slower shutter speed or there is some sort of delay. Could be my settings but when I am hand holding shots I switch LV off.

I have shot a couple short videos for real estate and the quality is appalling, just barley usable for Youtube. Maybe I haven't got the settings all right although it is set to the highest quality. BTW I didn't buy the camera for video and would never have even used it unless asked.

In post, Lightroom to be exact. As a "Fine Art" photographer I always PP my photos to achieve a certain look. I also have to compensate as I don't yet possess any filters. Next purchase hopefully ;) ---------- Post added 10-29-17 at 02:29 PM ----------
As a previous Nikon 14-24mm owner, I can honestly say it out performs this well renowned lens and at about a third of the price.

Been away for 3 days so sorry about the late replies. I haven't had a chance to try it again, although I did notice when changing the aperture in LM that the histogram didn't move. Seems rather odd to me!

I am using the Irix 15mm which is MF, does that make a difference? I certainly couldn't get any reaction from the histogram no matter what I changed.
