I am using Silkypix since version two and am a happy user of version 7 pro now. Don't mix these programs up with the Pentax supplied software which is different software with a very old Silkypix engine. Silkypix is a RAW editor and not a "photoshopper" which gives good focus on getting good "normal" results without getting into the effect pics you see on the internet (too) often.
I find it the most userfriendly RAW editor and I have used them all. Quality is good. In some cases one of the other give better results and in other cases Silkypix does. Most of them are quite good these days. So try some of them and make your pick. Lightroom has the advantage of having the largest userbase and therefore easiest support.
Very customisable userdesktop to be tailored exactly to your needs without having to go in workflow tabs, menu's, expandable functions etc. Extemely userfriendly compared with the rest.
I recommend it however I am aware I am one of a kind.
And BTW I am using Windows.

I have a OPO as well and connecting is no problem. I do have to go into the wifi settings and select the Ricoh to connect with, make sure wifi is on on the GR and push connect on the web app. 100% hit within a second.
Hope this helps.

I am using Silkypix pro 6.
I can confirm that barrel corrections in RAW are being imported into Silkypix. Don't now about other RAW software.
Will look into the details later.

Regarding the original DA 55-300mm lens.
The September 2006 roadmap showed a 70-300mm lens.
The March 2007 roadmap showed the 55-300mm lens, as did the October 2007 roadmap
On the January 2008 roadmap the lens still shows as future but for the first time with a picture. Same on the March 2008 roadmap.
The September 2008 roadmap was the first which shows the lens as available.
Utterly useless information but for who might be interested. And yes I still have all the roadmaps available from May 2005.

- startracker
- kalibration
- time position
- automatic time sync on/off
Did not find other changes so far.

The K-5 cannot take advantage of the Extreme pro because it is NOT compliant to the UHS standard (as stated in Pentax press release which came with firmware 1.02).
The card falls back on the normal bus which is a tad slower than the Extreme III as you can read on Rob Galbraith's site.
The Nikon D7000 does support the UHS bus and the D7000 reaches a 10% higher speed than the normal Extreme III: Nikon D7000 RAW Burst Test
In Europe though the card is not more expensive or even a tad cheaper than the Extreme III so I would recommend the PRO because it is more future proof and the upload speed to your PC can be faster when used with an appropriate reader.

The card has been bought at a respectable and well nown Dutch camera shop. And I am able to format and use it on my desktop.
And therefore still the question: does anybody has experience with SDXC cards in a K-5??

Yes it is a Sandisk Ultra 64GB.
Pentax stated that the K-5 is not UHS compatible. The cards should work because I think they are backwards compatible but how fast they are in that case I don't know.
The Nikon 7000 is UHS compatible however not mutch faster with this card compared to the Extreme 30MB card.

Does anybody have actual experiance with the K-5 and the use of SDXC cards?
I have the opportunity to buy a Sandisk SDXC 64GB for a good price but it does not seem to work.
Factory formatted the K-5 showed a numer of pics to be taken of almost 2000 for DNG which is correct. It could take 1 pic but after that the -5 said card error. Formatting in camera did not work. Formmatting in exFAT on a PC did not eather.
Anybody?
Thanks

Quick test:
Fill up the buffer with 24 RAW DNG pics:
ADATA 16GB class 6: 52 sec to clear the buffer,
not fast enough to record full HD video
Transcend 16GB class 10: 29 sec fast enough for HD
Sandisk Extreme 3 8GB, class 6: 17 sec
Wonder how fast a Sandisk extreme class 10 is.

The supported camera list on the English part of the site is not up to date. The K-5 is supported since two versions allready.
See the list on the Japanese part of the site. SILKYPIX == 対応カメラ |

Silkypix Version: 4.1.41.2 supports K-r and K-5 and all the other new camera's.
I think they are allmost allways the quickest especially in the Japanese version.
And it does not crash.

Since today I have all five DA limiteds.
First shots with my new 35mm in Rotterdam. This lens is sharp although it does not really show in these rezised pics.
