We are the same. The few dealings we have had, were not pleasant to say the least (was repair tho, not sales).
While the market for Pentax is smaller here, that should not mean the distributors should charge more to retailers.
Agree. Just can't see it happening!

Exactly. I had queried that their cost price for the K20 was more than one retailer had it for at RRP (and not parallel).

And around $2000 (NZ) from Pentax USA...
I agree its a rip off but retailers here can't do much about it when their cost price is high.

I thought the same. I spoke to the people at IR Little (pentax distrib in NZ) and cost price on the K20, the weeks before the K7 was announced was a bit higher than the cost price of the K7 now.
Not sure why. But retail where I work would be about the $3000 mark for body and lens. So $2800 seems not so bad?

Kiwi living in Auckland, New Zealand. Signed up after many google searches led me to finding the answers here.
Just been experimenting with Pentax bellows and now contemplating the K7 so can mod my existing *ist DS for dedicated IR.
Used Pentax film cameras for years, plus a lovely old Seagull when I was at school.
Currently managing a Photo Centre (fujifilm) while I attempt to finish my studies part time. :)
