Happy New Year! These are all shot in the chilly Oregon forest this morning with a KP + DA* 16-50 SDM, except for the photo of the KP leaning against a branch, which was on a K-3 III + 55-300 PLM. These also mark the beginning of a new stage in my life and career. I've just retired from my job as arts editor at a small alt weekly to pursue photography full time. (OK, my planned retirement was actually forced by an astonishing situation, which you can read about in The New York Times and The Oregonian, but my sudden layoff came at the same time I had already told the paper I planned to leave the staff.)
I'm looking forward to a new daily routine that involves a lot of shooting, a lot of printing, and a lot of aggressive marketing of my work -- hand colored black and white landscapes -- which has finally begun to get some traction in galleries around the West.
Happy New Year to all, and may your 2024 be as adventurous as mine!

My DA* 60-250 mm f/4's AF works as well today as the day I bought it. The results are truly amazing. I read somewhere less than 5% of these zoom lenses (the earliest issued models) had SDM failure, so the odds are in your favor !! |

Overall, very impressed with the lens! It's so small that I didn't even stand out. :)

As I'm currently on the edge on giving in to VL LBD (so far - just a desire), I thought I could meanwhile just cross-post one from my only Voitgländer lens here, from the Something Special About That Lens 'contest'. |

I don't have that lens, but understand that it's well liked.
For the DA 15, I could add that I appreciate its flare resistance, colour production, and compact size. I'll often add it to my bag when I'm going out with my DA 20-40 and DA 50-135 combo.
Here's an older image showing off the DA 15 goodness. Just a wee bit of flare, but not bad considering the position of the sun. (A brisk morning after a reasonably heavy snowfall -- Welcome to Canada.) Snowy sunburst by c.a.m_1, on Flickr

I can't say why it's so popular, but plenty of reviews and posts here show why folks love it (and why some don't).
The DA 15mm Limited is my 'foreground lens': I use it mainly to highlight foreground subjects while showing their environment and context. The lens has a short minimum focus distance of 15 cm, which can be very useful for getting close to a subject. I generally don't use it to capture wide landscape vistas as a subject, but it works for this purpose also.
I also have the DA 21mm Limited and the DA 20-40mm. I find that 15mm offers a significantly wider view than the DA 21, so they are distinct.
