Tried that too. I think it is a physical problem. I've noticed not just autobracketing button seems to be perma-pressed, but also menu button. I'll take it to service.
By the way how do we enter to debug mode?

I've a trouble with my K20D!
My Auto-Bracketing "function" seems to be stuck. The Button itself is still functional and I can press it and it comes back without any problems.
But the wheels no longer function as they should. They just adjust autobracketing settings. My menu button doesn't function either. The machine behaves as if the autobracketing button is permanently pressed.
Is there a hard reset button in k20d so I can reset it?
Any other solutions?

Forums are places where people love to rage about tiny failures. When everything works fine they don't come here and say it does.
I don't have a k7. I've a k20d....and I'd put even k20d over 50d. Being able to use vintage lenses without problems(You can even use old canon glass on k20d with a "lossless" converter) AND with SR (for which you pay extra$$$ on EACH lens for 50d) is great. MTF priorty Hyper P mode is great. The DR range is great. On the top of that people claim that they finally managed to get a stable AF system and light metering for K7.
I'm sure Canon also has its positives. But they somehow manage to elude me!

Get Pentax 35mm f/2 or Sigma 30mm f/1.4 50mm on aps-c is too narrow for general use

Get a f/1.4-2 lens. I've Sigma 30mm f/1.4 and I'm happy with it. You can get a 50mm f/1.4 or a 35mm f/2 too.
Kx@3200 ISO + f/1.4 sounds like nightvision to me :P

P mode, ISO 400, +1 Flash Exposure Comp, -2 EV, Slow with trailing curtain sync. Shoot RAW to adjust WB later. Avoid reflective backgrounds.

Learn some post-processing too. White Balance, Crop and Curves are your friends. They can breathe life into your pictures.

My problem with those flashes is that I don't like carrying extra flash unit around....and I consider the pop-up flash on my camera as "available light".
So for I've found out that using slow, trailing curtain sync, +1 Flash Exposure Compensation and -2 EV metering at P mode at ISO 400 results in good photos even when using pop-up flash for low light applications....as long as there are no reflective surfaces around.
I wish manufacturers had given us more freedom on chosing settings on pop-up flash.

I've 18-250...and I'm frequently using its wide end (18). I'd hate it if I were stuck with 28 only.

This is discussed 123141 times. You ARE shooting raw. The question is: Are you processing it in your machine or in your computer.
I prefer processing it myself :) Only then can I call the photos MY photos.

Does K-x have a TAv mode like k20d? Or another thing you could do would be setting P mode priorty on shutter speed and use P mode...though I'm not even sure if K-x has this opition at all.

Shooting JPG is like developing a film in an automated machine....and RAW like is developing the photo yourself in a dark room.

There are a few things you need to check:
Use M mode for all shots. To avoid exposure problems, make some light measurements before you begin. Find a suitable average exposure and make sure you are using same iso, aperature and shutter speed values for all shots.
If you are familiar with the concept of hyper focal point, use manual focus, set aperature to f/8-11 and shoot at hyperfocal distance. On some lenses focus point also shifts the field of view and you might end up with awkward scaling on photos.
Remove your Polarizing filter. Although it helps for single shots, the polarizing effect will just wreak havoc on your stitching software's calculations.
Make vertical shots instead of horizontal. You'll be doing more shots, but extra width on the panorama helps in the final result.
Check for moving objects and make sure that they are not positioned at overlapping areas. Vehicles are a big problem...sometimes people are too. Avoid them whenever possible.
As long as there is enough light, motion blur won't be a problem for hand help shooting. For low light you'll need to use a tripod.
That's what comes to my mind for now.

Low-light is really trouble. If what you want to capture has a depth of more then 10cm's then wide aperature lenses like 1.4 or 2 will not be of much help. I'm trying to use the pop-up flash whenever possible...I set the USER mode on my k20d to following settings:
Program mode
Flash is set to Slow, with second shutter release.
Flash exposure compensation is set to +1
Exposure is set to -2
ISO is set to 400
I shoot RAW....but if you are not shooting raw set WB to flash.
This usually gives good results and the last flash usually illumines objects nice enough to overwrite any motion blur. Just make sure that there are no reflecting surfaces around....they screw with flash metering VERY badly.

I love the data pentax machines can store at shadows. When you amplify them it can become a bit noisy, but noise is managable by software.....overblown highlights are not.

Thank you very much for this answer. Is there a guide for P-TTL around here...the link about PTTL flashes takes me to a page with lots of external flashes. I'm more interrested in using the pop-up flash correctly

Why does my k20d flash twice when using trailing curtain sync? The first flash doesn't seem to have any effect on the image but still, I wonder why it flashes at all. Do other brands do it the same way? I don't recall double flashing with my old 400d

I also live in Istanbul and make frquent vistis out of country. You really will not get into any trouble for carrying additional lenses. Definitely get your 50mm f/1.4 because Istanbul is VERY colorful at night :)
Oh and 18-250 is a very nice lens by the way. The convenience of not having to change lenses is a huge advantage. The image quality is not bad at all. Things like vignetting, CA, distortion etc. are fixable with some little post processinga anyway :)
