Well, after a week of debate, I made the switch.
Sorry guys but I went with the Sony. At the end of the day, there were just too many features going for the Alpha. The $644 price tag was too good to pass up.
I guess that means my contributions to this forum will be limited. Thanks for the advice and help.

I would love to support the local guy but not for $110 + Sales Tax more (approx. $120 more). Good point about indoor shooting and ISO800+... I don't know. The Alpha just seems like it might be a more versitile solution.
Also, I'll go searching now but I can't imagine old Minolta lenses are that high priced, if they will work with the Alpha mount?
Thanks for the advice so far, I just might stay in the Pentax camp...

So after much hum-hawing I decided that I should have bought the Pentax K100D with Shake Reduction. Most of my shots were done indoors with less than perfect lighting and in some instances the SR would have helped. I was able to return the K110D at the camera shop for a full refund (very nice of them) and am looking where to go next. Beach Camera has the K100D for $485 (with $50 rebate subtracted). But... I was on PriceGrabber and saw the Sony A100 going for $644 at a reputable merchant.
My question is this, I am not a pro nor I play one on TV. However, doesn't it make sense to get the most advanced camera system at the time so that one isn't already behind the curve (i.e. Dust Removal and 10.2 MP)? I am tend to be a buy it once kind of guy. It seems like the Alpha for only $160 more might be the smart play.
Some back story... I have been out of photography since high school (2 years during) but love taking my point and shoot with me everywhere. I take a lot of candid portraits of people and animals. I am a firearms enthusiast (police officer) and frequently take stills of my collection. I have access to large format printing (up to 60" wide  ) from a previous job managing a Kinko's location so I would like to keep open the possibilty of LARGE prints.
What should I do? Both bodies feel good ergonomically... Either is acceptable economically. Help!!!

So you are from Minnesota, then? ;)
We're kind of like South Canada.

So, I guess I am the only one who finds her absolutely stunning. That first picture in particular. Ben, what do you think? Is she just an average model or someone that you would consider shooting?

Just wanted to say hello.
I have been out of photography for about 8 years (I took several classes in High School) but decided last week to upgrade cameras. I was using a Canon G2 but wanted a little more flexability and quality than the camera allowed.
After searching the review at CNet and DPReview, I narrowed my choices to the Pentax K110D, Olympus E500 and Canon Rebel. Ater talking with the saleman at National Camera Exchange, I purchased the Pentax. The $50 rebate made the deal even sweeter.
Here are some snapshots (Auto Pic) that I took to get used to the camera:
Oh yeah, and I noticed from lurking around that you guys seem fond of banner signatures. I didn't notice any for the K110D so I made one of my own. Any K110D owners may feel free to use it also.
