A Spotmatic F was my first real camera (not sure that the Zenith B counts). I bought it with money saved working before going up to university. About 5 years later it was stolen from my office in the University Zoology department, together with a 100mm f4 SMC macro lens. I replaced it with an OM2n but, at the time, was unable to afford the other parts of the OM system to support my interest in natural history photography. The OM2n stopped working after a visit to the Blue pool in Iceland (but at least the photos were stunning !)
I'm rediscovering the delights of simpler photography, so I've recently bought a couple of Spotmatic F bodies with 50mm f1,4, 55mm f1,8 and 35mm f3,5 SMC lenses. One of the bodies is for my daughter. The F's are currently undergoing a service.
I also have a Nikon FE2 and FM3a. I traded in a Nikon 90X for the FM3a.
It's not that I don't appreciate the benefits of digital, autofocus, etc., but I like to travel light. Pentax (and Olympus) have always appreciated the importance of maintaining modest proportions coupled with high quality performance. I will probably buy a four thirds or micro four thirds camera with interchangeable lenses in due course. Any advice on this would be appreciated.
Or I may simply buy an MX. I like using these classics !
