Having had a SF1 since late 80's and my wife has a Canon Rebel, in the process of replacing SF1 due to a mirror box/shutter failure problem. Retired military camera has been all over the world, loaned camera to children came back with proble which is more than likely due to age.

I have a SF1 which I purchased 1988, the problem I have is that the mirror in in the up position (no error code in LCD) and have been told that this is a problem that is non repairable due to mirror box/shutter failure. Any help and advice if I have to get a SLR I am looking at a replacement zx 5n. Any advice I do not want to pursue a digital camera.
