Thanks for all the replies everyone, they are very helpful!
einstrigger & Venturi, thanks for the link, lots of good information there.
I really like your version raz-0, more natural looking, and and I like the brightness on the faces, I did my best to recreate those results :-)

I'll agree with you there!
I just dont see how another entire line of lenses could possibly be sustainable given the amount of people who would actually buy a Pentax full frame. Yes much of the development work is done, but that's only part of the expense (stock, advertising, support, etc.) Lots of people talk about a FF camera on forums but I think few would actually buy it.

Hi all,
I tried to do some engagement photos for some friends, and am having trouble getting the skin tones right on a few of them. I made a bad mistake when I took the photos by using a flash gel that was too 'orange' for the ambient light, and I can't seem to compensate with lightroom .
Can yall give some advice on these? Do the skin colours look way off? Are they passable? Would you notice they are off if I didn't tell you?
Thanks in advance!

In my opinion the most important advantage of FF is the larger viewfinder. As far as the technical advantages, they are only relevant for the very small percentage of users who would be able to produce better images than could be captured with aps-c.
If I ever get to the point where I'm limited by my camera and want the best of the best, I'll go with the 645. Or, more likely (and financially feasible), wait a couple years for aps-c technology to improve.
IMHO for Pentax to develop full frame camera & lens lineup would be a waste of resources.

Make sure you use a tripod, and as slow shutter speed as necessary (and practical) to keep the iso nice and low. For this type of thing you usually want a really smooth (ie not grainy) photo to give a kind of "high class" look. Try messing around with a small aperture too, to make some cool stars around the lights!

Those are some amazing pictures! I always wonder why most aerial photography focuses on things on the ground. Great to see a unique perspective like that.

The new design really makes those images look bad on my screen (1920X1200 running Chrome). Downscaling is fine, but I think they should limit the display to the original image size.
As a somewhat-computer-literate user I understand that it's the browser's scaling causing the issue, but if I was completely new to photography and/or computers I would stay far, far away from Pentax. The photos in the PPG are supposed to showcase the high-quality images that a Pentax can capture, instead I see pixelated, noisy-looking images in a "premier gallery". I'm a bit disappointed.

Definitely not "unusable" wide open, some of my best shots were taken at 1.4. You just have to be exact with the focusing, in which case i find the lens is actually quite sharp, considering the shallow DOF and price of the lens.

Again, I'm working with a k200 here, but i would think the k100 would be the same:
When the "OK" button is assigned to focus, instead of the half-pressed shutter release, the camera will take the photo regardless of whether it thinks the scene is in focus or not. It is basically the same as having the camera in MF, but the camera will auto-focus only when you press the "OK" button.
I use this function for the same reasons you describe, and it works well for me (I never have to hold the "OK" and shutter release at the same time, as you say, that would be pretty awkward). Just hold the "OK" button until you hear the confirmation beep, the camera will not attempt to change focus until you press the "OK" button again, and you can fire away at any time
AF-C should work as well, though. The scene should not have to be in focus for the shutter to release. Check your custom functions menue and see if there is an option that has been changed?

You may be able to set the "OK" button as a focus button, instead of using the shutter button. I did this on my k200, works like a charm.
Not 100% sure if this is possible on the k100 though. I found the setting in the custom functions menu, may be worth a look

I think this ENTIRE forum is mostly negative. At least this month. One month ago it was all about 'Pentax is the best, anyone who doesn't use one is an idiot.' Now it seems we're back to doom and gloom. It'll change again as soon as people get over the "my camera may be defective (and i may not have even known it)!" panic.
It's real hard to keep up with when you're supposed to love pentax and when you're supposed to hate them around here..... it changes so often....

Both.
Obviously there will be some catch-up (ie modernizing) to keep up with new technology, but I think there will lots of new improvements and ideas too. Seems to me all of Pentax's new releases are revolutionary in some way or another. I dont have any reason to expect this one will be different. That being said, I'm pretty new to Pentax (and photography all-together). Guess we wont really know till its announced.
