Video Review I did - small affordable slider, great for DSLR sized cameras - I used the Gh2 in this video, but of course, good for the K-5 as well. Cheap enough if you're just dabbling in the video part

Ah don't need a K-7 for the time being, so I'm just curious and like to window shop on ebay LOL.
If Pentax has a new k-7 successor in 2010 then I'll be interested

Anyone hear any CONCRETE info? Hard to find articles via googling other than a quick one or two sentence blurb with photos and going back and forth on the rumor that it's cancelled vs. it will be released in early 2010.
What I'm interested in is will it have video? Honestly, I'd love to get this if it had 1080P though it doesn't seem like it would have the built in SR/IS/VR reduction.

$1020 now at Amazon, down from $1049 :D
Is the K-x responsible?

K-7...I like the features it has over the K-x and mainly because I'm a videographer and would love the video capabilities it has over the K-x - mic input and 1024-1520 resolution. Weather Sealing is underrated.

How many people here use Pentax professionally for a photography career? For weddings for example, or anything?
How's finding/networking with other pentax photographers?

Dumb question...
is it even possible to make a k-7 do 1080p via firmware?

Just curious, as I've never seen a vimeo/youtube sample
Anyone got good video with the K-7/K-x
USING the 85mm 1.4?

Just curious, does anyone have video at these high ISO speeds to compare to K7 video?

Well I'll give them this...
I think Pentax glass may just a better investment for the future vs. Canikon.
Pentax doesn't have anything to compete with the top models of Canikon, but once you dip below 2K, Pentax IMO is storming over the Canikon budget models.
A k-7 successor or full frame camera than can take the FA limiteds with the SR built in the body = :D

Did someone decide to actually make Measurebation a tech term? I've seen it thrown around.
Should I look it up on urbanphotodictionary.com?

the lower end K-x looked amazing at 3200 considering it's a consumer DSLR.
There's quite a few threads and articles online stating on the K-7 actually takes better pics than the Canon 7D (although video is another story) but the 7D is better at higher ISOs.
The samples I saw the K-7 was noticeably better without pixel peeping.

So far they pictured black.
But I just double checked...neither amazon or BH photo have just the body for sale, so hopefully this thread is in time to be helpful...it's tempting after seeing some youtube clips that actually looked impressive by K-7 standards.
A mic input would've made it a steal.
Funny thing is though, also on newegg if you click on the K-7 they have a pic of the 645D by mistake included :D

Hopefully I'm not stating old news
But Newegg has BODY ONLY packages for 599.
I remember the body only option originally wasn't available and I have yet to see another retailer carry the body only and remember some people here posting they'd wait until just the body was available...so there you go.

Overall I say kudos to Pentax for making the best bang for buck DSLRs out there.
This seems like a very very nice personal use camera that can double as a utilitary pro camera on the side.
Though both this and the K-7 are missing some video features like manual controls and 1080P and a mic input for the K-x, but no one else has such performance for their price points, so you can't complain too much, though it's tough, because you know Pentax will just release a new camera in a year or two most likely...I just love the built in IS/SR feature saving you cash on lenses.

K7 also has an audio input for video, doesn't look like the KX has one.
K7 has better battery life with batt grip compatibility.
And 24 > 30. It looks fine and gives you 20 percent more storage space on your cards and 20 percent faster rendering times.

Has anyone heard of the Samsung NX? I remember everyone gooing over it but there's been no word of it since early summer.
If it has manual video controls, 1080p AND PENTAX lens support, SIGN ME UP :D
And it would be awesome if Pentax updated or made a K-7 successor, but don't they usually wait a long time for upgrades?

5 min a gig is mini DV/HDV tape, not DSLR footage, that's much higher.

So a 32 gb card would hold about 80-90 minutes of *** video?
Do you have AGC issues like the Mark ii's audio with hiss ?
Also for those looking for a cheaper mic, there's the atr-55 which can be had for under 50 bucks, not the greatest mic in the world, but for personal use it should suffice.
$300 for a shotgun mic is not that much if you price pro gear though.
At least the K-7 doesn't seem like it needs ext. audio recording like the Mark 2 for videos.

Just tested my Takumar 50mm 1.4 M42 mount today. YES VERY NOTICEABLE CA/PF wide open and existent up to 2.8, but you'd have to pixel peep past 1.4 for the most part.
Bokeh isn't as good as I'd hoped, but I'll figure away around it I guess. 6 blades is better than the 5 on the canon 1.8 at 1/3 the price on ebay, but it's comparable bokeh wise with busy backgrounds.
Quite sharp though, only $40 so I won't complain. Quite a bit of dust/dirt inside, but didn't affect pic quality and don't see anything.
Wish the focus ring would be the standard clockwise foreground, CC background, instead of the reverse.
