And a great place to visit Himeji Castle is, to. A few years ago, my wife and I were lucky enough to do a tour with an English speaking guide. The history is fascinating as are the architectural details such as the fact that there are no nails or metal used in the building, it's all tongue and groove/joints.
By coincidence, I have a photo almost the same as your second one, taken from the same place :)

Last weekend saw the running of the annual Philip Island Classic Festival of Motorsport. There was a huge range of cars from Australia, the USA, UK and Europe, competing and on display. I guess the highlights for me were the two Ferrari F1 cars once driven by Michele Alboreto and Stefan Johanssen, the 1974 F1 March 741 driven by local legend John Bowe and what was then the all-conquering Nissan GTR. There were two GTRs here, one of the Gibson Motorsport "works" cars and the "semi-works" GIO car run by Bob Forbes Racing. I took well over 500 photos so picking a few to post here was difficult. The weather was fantastic and the crowd bigger than last year. This event seems to grow in stature each year. A good thing for Phillip Island and classic/heritage motorsport.
I haven't figured out how to caption the pics so, in order, they are; ERA once owned by the Prince of Siam, F1 Ferrari 156/85, 1974 F1 March 741, Nissan GTR, Elfin ME5, BMW E30 M3, Brabham BT31, Cooper T51 (?), ARGO JM19 C2, Lola T330 F5000.

Green with envy, Colton and, I have to agree with Nick. The combination of the kit and the person driving it has produced some great work!

Over the last three days, the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit hosted the Classic Festival of Motorsport. This is now the biggest meeting of its type in the Southern Hemisphere and there was some wonderful machinery here - Porsche 962 that competed in the 1988 Le Mans, a host of Brabhams that Sir Jack had either driven, designed or built, Alan Jones' 1980 World Championship winning Williams F1 car, Bugatti, Jaguar ... and the list goes on.
I've attached a few pics, a couple of which I lightened a little, but otherwise, they're straight from the camera. I had a bit of an issue with focus when panning :( - not sure if its down to shutter speed, the 50-200 Pentax lens I used or, me. Anyway, hope you enjoy a bit of a cross section of the cars that were there.

Inspired by Mel's pics of Scotland, here are a some I took a couple of weeks beforehand. The weather was generally poor, but the sun came out on a few occasions. It's a beautiful place, whatever the weather. (I couldn't figure out how to include a title for each pic ...)
