Item for Sale
Made in Japan SMC Pentax-FA 31mm F1.8 Limited

Asking Price
650.00 USD

Item Location
Sydney (Australia)

Item Description
I didn't know what love really was until I experienced this lens.

I don't use her anymore because I've moved systems, but she still has a hold on me. I look back with such fondness on the experiences we had together and the photos we took. She was always there for me, solid and dependable.

She might be cold and hard on the outside (with a few scratches from a life well lived), but on the inside she is crystal clear and sharp as a tack (and her rendition is just so amazing). And those scratches aren't much anyway, just little scars to show the fun we had.

I'd be happy to keep her forever, but she needs a home where she'll be appreciated more than she is at the moment. A home that will give her the reason for living I can't provide.

You'll of course get the box, original lens caps, and lens pouch included. But they all pale in comparison to the lens herself.

If you're an Australian buyer, you can pick her up from me in Sydney, or postage will be included for all Australian buyers. International buyers pay actual shopping and insurance.

Please treat her well.

Lens will be posted via Australia Post and will be insured for the purchase cost of the lens. She will also be marked as a gift so you don't have to worry about any pesky import tax or duties. Postage cost will depend on purchaser location, so I'll work with you to ensure you get the best price possible.

Item Description
Do you see the world with wide-eyed wonder? Have you ever wanted to just take it all in and never let it go Well with this lens you can!

The wide angle Pentax 12-24mm f/4.0 lens is truly a beautiful beast to behold! It takes amazing photos that show-off the power and beauty of the world around you.

I've owned this lens since new, and loved every second I've spent with it. If that's the case why would I be selling, I hear you ask. Well I recently bought the Pentax 16-50mm f/2.8 and find that this wonderful lens has taken over all my wide-angle shots, which means that the 12-24mm is left to the side, all alone in the camera bag with nobody to keep it company. And that is just mean.

The details!

Lens: SMC Pentax DA 12-24mm F4 ED AL (IF)
Condition: Like New - this has been lovingly stored and cared for
Come with the box? Of course it does!
Local Pickup? No worries! We'll organise a time and place
Delivery included? Unfortunately not, but we will discuss shipping options and prices during the process. Shipping the parcel to USA would roughly be AU$50, whereas to the UK would be roughly AU$70
Anything else? Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have.

So now I am giving you the opportunity to take this lens home with you, and give it the love and respect it deserves.

This lens is for life (or until you get another lens), not just for Christmas.

I bought the 60-250mm from B&H when I was over there for a song. And I love it! The only * lens I have but it is making me seriously consider getting the 16-50mm (even though I know the risks...).

Camera shops in LA/San Francisco?

Hi everybody!

Apologies if this is in the wrong place (mods feel free to move to where it is most appropriate),

I'm going to be in LA and San Fran next week and was wondering if anybody knew of any shops I could pop into to buy some lenses?

I'm ideally looking for the 60-250mm lens (it's completely sold out in Australia - which is very annoying!) and so any help would be greatly appreciated.

I've read somewhere that B&H/Adorama don't deliver to hotels/hostels but if someone thinks otherwise please let me know!

Thanks.

Bought FA*200/2.8 but received DA*200/2.8 ?!

That's happened to me before too from a place in the States. I ordered a FA* 28-70mm f/2.8 and paid the big bucks for it only to get the much cheaper FA 28-70mm f/4.0.

I was not impressed and not sure how anyone could mix the two up! I returned it rather promptly and they refunded all shipping costs which was nice. But still... for a camera shop to mix two very different lenses up is something I don't comprehend!

Hi all,

Just a friendly bump to remind you that the 70-200mm EX DG APO is still for sale, along with a 2x Kenko teleconverter.

Get them while they are hot!*

*hot in this case does not mean stolen, rather they are very very good looking (in a similar vein to Scarlett Johansson or Charlize Theron)

Pentax K-5 (?) - new camera this year

I am hanging out for a high-end camera priced above the K7 with awesome amazing features that address some of the issues had. Fps don't bother me so much, but quick and effective AF with good handling of noise at high ISOs is pretty much essential.

I don't plan on moving away from Pentax (mainly because I love my 31mm too much) but sometimes I do wonder why I stick it out so...

Going skiing - camera precautions?

I had this dilemma a while ago and I just took along a little point and shoot which performed admirably. And I fell on it heaps as well!

I would still consider taking a DSLR, but a point and shoot does the job just as well on a ski trip. If it's going to be a proper photography trip, then that's a different story entirely!

I don't have any of those lenses, but I am seriously considering buying either the 16-50mm or 17-70mm, but I just don't know which one! I'm not too fussed about the aperture (as tempting as f2.8 is), but the weather sealing is just so handy.

Do we know if Pentax is thinking of releasing the 17-70 with weather sealing any time soon as that would greatly influence my decision!

Intresesting to see what what was said re Henson waiting for the model to become of legal age. Do you have a link to that article anywhere?

Also, as many people have pointed out in recent days, this furore over the image is probably making things worst for the subject, not better. Just like with Miley Cyrus, she only started feeling bad about the photos taken after the media got wind of it and created a massive story over nothing.

The thing with Bill Henson is that he is a major part of the art community in Australia. There was an article in todays paper about a former child model of his (who didn't actually pose nude) who defended Bill. She also said that he always asked the parents permission and that it was a very open and communicative process.
If you want to see some of his other work (which was endorsed and sponsored by the Australian Government no less)here is the link for it.

It does contain more nudity. However I hear that the people in this photo are also younger than 'legal' age. Where is the consistency there?
