I get shots from my pentax that are fantastic so I would never ditch pentax. However, I do get a lot of frustration from my gear so I can understand wanting to try the other guy's stuff.

It's an awesome lens, so it must be good for something. I like it for concert photos when I shoot from the audience.

SMC DA15 exposure questions?

Thank you, I checked my metering mode and cycled thru the three different options. Changing them didn't seem to do too much to the exposure levels I'm getting.

For example, here is a photo of my ceiling fan shot in A mode.

It's clearly underexposed.

SMC DA15 exposure questions?

Hi,
I was the lucky recipient of a new DA15 lens this Xmas. The lens works fine sometimes and then other times the images are severely underexposed.

I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong of if it's my lens or my camera settings. I find that I have to set the exposure level to +2 to compensate. I can shoot in M mode but how does that help me when a stranger wants to try my camera?

Anecdote: Auto-Focus Nightmare

My experience is that AF-C is not useful for still subjects. I'm convinced that AF-S is more reliable, although I don't do a lot of photography of moving subjects and rarely have a need for AF-C. I can see why it would be useful, but when I use AF-S, the lens takes a few movements to get the focus right and it stops there instead of continuing to look for focus points. It's very reliable, however you need to confirm that it has chosen the right subject.

I like to use the AF-IF button for focusing so the shutter button won't interfere with your composition.

What focus mode are you using? I find that AF-S works best for still subjects.

Also, try using the AF-IF button for focusing to assure that you aren't re-focusing while shooting your pics.

How many users set the focus point and use AF.S/AF.C?

I do the same: use the af/if button for focus and disable focus on the shutter button. With constant focus I don't have to keep pressing the focus button to achieve accurate focus- I just hold it down until I'm satisfied or need a new focus reading.

The OP's photos are sharp and in-focus. I think he needs to pay more attention to the metering function of his camera.

This isn't true, at all. The first amendment only covers what speech the gov't will restrict. There are many other less formal restrictions to free speech.

I hope they didn't pay their advertising agency too much for the new PENTAX slogan: "Be Interesting." I could have come up with a better slogan for the mere cost of a few lenses.

This is just as bad as the new Kaiser Permanente slogan: "Thrive!", among others.

Do I really need PENTAX to be interesting? Will PENTAX do anything to make my photography more interesting?

This must be the vaguest and least interesting slogan since whatever the last stupid slogan was.

I mostly only shoot for fun but when someone says "Hey, get a picture of me with my (wife/gf/kids) I always joke and say "that'll be 50$ per print" but I take the pics, anyway.

I belong to the class of people who is qualified to judge between p&s and pro cameras. I'm the guy who tells you that you can't have that camera at this show. Usually I'm nice and tell people to put it away or I'm going to have to walk them down to coat check to check their camera and I also let them know that they don't want to wait in line to get it back. Most are good about that rule.

I see people with different types of detachable lens cameras, but we generally only restrict SLR style cameras, film or digital, because that's what the licensed photographers use. We're not trained to judge cameras. Sometimes I try to stop video but it's impossible to stop 1000 kids at the same time.

As far as I'm concerned, if you have anything less than a Nikon D40 or a Canon SLR, you're OK. I've tried to pass off my white Kx as a toy camera, but not everyone believes me.

I bought this tripod at a garage sale today. I bid 5$, and the seller countered with 7, but when I opened my wallet I had a pile of 20$s and one 10$, so I was nice and gave her the ten bucks.

I googled the parts when I got home and I think I got a good deal. Now what do I buy so that I can attach it to my camera?
