It's nose heavy, I use the large grip and don't find it bothersome.

I use it as my walk around on the KP. Sharp lens, nice color, quiet and quick focus. It's a Chunk of Glass though.
Good Luck

The KP. Image quality is fantastic. I shoot a lot at ISO 800 and the image comes out 'Clean'. I can see myself shooting with it for a long time. :)

The Auto repair industry went thru this about a decade ago. When it got to the point where Auto's needed a computer to get adjustments, it was dealer only. The independent shops had to band together and go to court to get the info needed to do repairs. They mostly succeeded . Some software is still not available, proprietary with no adjustments, logs mostly. The court decided that the software wasn't like Windows and couldn't be 'Leased' because without it the auto was nothing but a large scooter.
It could change if someone wants to spend the money to go to court.

For me the colors are 'truer', *istD and K-10D, at Base ISO. Also the Micro Contrast is better. I find my self adjusting it more on CMOS.
Then the Caveat , The KP blows the CCD away. What ever Pentax did to the processing chip, Worked :)

Your KP may have gone into sleep mode, to wake it up press the shutter 1/2 way. You should then be able to press the buttons and pull up your setting..
There's also a setting for turning off the rear screen, that may have been set to do so.

I've used ACDSEE for several years. I like the management and adjustments. the RAW Develop works well and a preset can be made for your camera RAW and can be applied to every file.. You should download the 30 day trial and give it ago before you buy. That way you'll know if you like it or not.
Good Luck.

You don't have to shoot RAW, If you''re happy just taking pictures use the JPG and be happy. If or When you want to do more, Study up and switch.
It's a good idea to learn to do a little post processing even on the JPG's. Good Luck

Olympus isn't shutting down, just changing owners and name. I believe it's going to be OM now. You also have Panasonic m4/3. So you can keep your lite gear going.

I've seen several of these come up for sale. I don't understand it because it looks like a fine lens.
The rest always change hands.

I used Ronsonol lighter fluid to clean aperture blades and shutters. That may work.

None that you have listed is a direct fit to the K1000. Those are M42 screw mount, not the Bayonet mount, Known as the 'K' mount. You will need a m42 to K adapter to mount to the camera. Go to the lens data base on this site, scroll down to the film era lens section and look under the K, M, and A prime lens sections. All 3 of those sections have lenses that will fit your camera. Then use their Proper name to search online.
Prices vary because of age, coatings, and condition. Good luck.

Chimp. Take your shot, Chimp it and the Histogram. Adjust and shoot again. Rainbow is Landscape so you have the time for a Chimp and adjust. I do it every time :)

Try exercising all the buttons. Tarnish develops over time and can limit contact. The light button is usually the first to act up. Then the others. Good Luck.

Mine did weird also. At first all was well but then AF accuracy started failing. Mine is without OS. Calibrated the lens a couple of times and it was all over the place. I sent mine to Sigma under warranty. Repair order said it was calibrated on a K3, vague enough. I've had it back 6 months now and it works. Whatever adjustment it was, Worked.

If you're careful opening emails, where you surf, and run a store bought AV, you can probably run 7 awhile longer. A lap top I have ,I upgraded from Vista to 7 just last year and never ran into any 'Bugs' or Virus.
