hmmm, just checked the settings and found out distortion correction was on and turned it off but its still much slower than i remember. One thing i have noticed is that after a photo is taken, the orange light that flickers takes about 2 seconds to do so, and i remember it being almost instant before. Dunno if thats normal or not.

May send CR kennedy an email to see what they think

Hi everyone,
Ive found that my K-7 has started taking a long time for a picture to come up on the LCD after taking a shot. I have had the instant review feature turned off and if i want to check a photo it usually takes 1 or 2 seconds for the photo to show, but now its taking over 5. The only thing i can think of that would have done this is me shooting a bit of video during a hot day. The videos were usually fairly short but the overheating symbol came up often. I thought that if this was the case though it would of stop seeing as the weathers cooled down again.
Does anyone know if the heat did some permanent damage to my camera??

How Limited are the Limited Lenses?

think i read it on an old brochure, but theyre called limited lenses cause they can only make a `limited number` of them a day. Probably due to the tight tolerances in the production line

Hey everyone, i had my friend look after my camera one night at his place and he happened to lose the rubber eyecup for my magnifying eye piece. Is there anywhere where i can buy a spare one of these? the only ones on ebay i can find are for the whole package and there doesnt seem to be any spare parts.
If not, anyone in australia want a cheap magnifier? =p

While i wouldnt mind some accessories for my K-7 i would rather new lenses first, (ie. 28mm f2 =D) Anyway, shouldnt this be in some other forum other than news and rumors?

lol at the res specs.
'The Native Resolution of the camera is 5MP with a interpolated 12MP setting in which the resolution is mapped onto a larger picture size'
Doesnt that just mean u get a 5 MP image that takes up the same space as a 12 MP image?

I dont know how the grain would turn out with the HDR as well. Anyway the point wasnt to get a technically perfect photo, sometimes i love HDR and sometimes it just looks out of place. Can you imagine a picture of the mona lisa all HDR'd and oversaturated?

After spending my whole photographic life (only a couple of years =p) trying to get noise free images i actually decided to take advantage of the k7's grainy high iso look.

Rather proud of the results =)

lol, hdr or not its one of my favourites.
And id be willing to trade rights to a photo for a new camera/clothes. Never planned to sell any of my photo and a student budget does make the prize seem ever more so attractive

limited prime vs zoom

kudos to the superzoom. As much as i hate em now they do help with getting used to a dslr. I realised after awhile i never really used the telephoto so bought me a couple of old primes and have never gone back to zooms. Course ive always got the kit lens for certain times but these days i usually carry around a DA40mm and a K 55mm f1.8 with a DA15mm on the camera. Keeps me happy =)

Are cameras evolving into cell phones?

Camera phones are getting better and better but they wont ever be able to get a high quality lens in there. Its physical restraints. While one day the sensor in a cell phone may be as good as those in p&s from today, im sure the sensor in a dslr is going to be even better still.
Phone cameras are getting fair good these days though and i use mine alot to copy documents for later reference

How close is the K20D and K-7 on image quality?

oh wow creampuff your kick up a huuuuge fuss over a little statement. As Marc said, i dont think you get his intended point, so im going to try and write it how i take it (correct me if im wrong yea),

The fact that most people look at images (i did say most, not all) on their computers, or printed at most likely

That said, i love my K7. I didnt really buy it for the IQ as i didnt see too much of an improvement over my old k200d, but just the weather sealing and ridiculously great ergonomics bought me over =)

Moral is - Buy the camera for the features, IQ should be good enough

Ethics

Ethics arent a set in stone topic. It really depends on what society thinks is ethical or not. Like smoking near pregnant women. Definately not the thing you would do these days but probably wouldnt think twice 30 years ago.
I know that engineers in australia have their own code of ethics which they must follow in order to be part of engineers australia but theyres alot of leeway in the wording.
Guess you just have to decide for yourself in the end. Guess what i wrote doesnt really help too much but i havent written much in the forums for awhile and thought i should contribute =p

Would you pay an annual "firmware" fee once your body is out of warranty?

You can say you shouldnt have to pay for firmware updates, but for an older camera, ie K10d, most manufacturers wouldnt even bother, seeing as its outdated and they wouldnt make any more money off it. In a few years i would pay for a firmware update for my k7, as that the fact that you are paying for it means that more time and effort would be placed in the final product. While it wouldnt be anything substantial, i would definately pay $10 for a small yearly update, as long as the increased features/improvements were there

Anyone use a protective filer for their DA15mm?

Hi,
Ive recently bought me a DA15mm and am wondering if anyone here uses a protective filter on it?
I usually dont use one on my other lenses but theyre a DA40mm which doesnt really need one thanks to the unique hood and some cheap M lenses where im not too worried about a little knockage. Being a fairly expensive lens, having a decent amount of exposed glass and being used at close distances all worry me but im not sure if im ready to trade off the amazing optical quality of it.
So opinions please =)
