I guess i am looking for specifics like how to get the best shot in a floresent setting. I have a neice coming any day now and I promised to take pics before I decided to get a new camera that I know anything about. Plus i just sold the old one. I'm afraid of having to have the flash on in every shot and blinding every one in the room. Since I can't create the setting it's freaking me out.

It's apparent I have a lot to learn. Let's pretend (or not) I know nothing about photography or my new camera k20.

Does anyone have any sugustion for reading material or online classes? Something that doesn't read like a manual more hands on.

Thanks in advance.

Yes I need to do some major reading. It just dawned to me this might be an issue.
Well looking at them on this post maybe they are not as dark as I thought or the veiwfinder and monitor are dark.

dark photos. I was standing under a tent

I was standing in direct sunlight

I just got back from a parade and again the pics are darker than I like (I posted this issue and I had the spot meter on but changed it to the center). When I came home I took some back yard pics that were perfect.

If I was under a tent shooting out into a hot sun lit street would that matter on the darkness of the photo? verse me being directly in the sun while shooting?

Boy do I feel dumb. Off to read the book (again) about spot metering.

Sorry I posted this thinking the original post did not go through. I was under the impression green mode was atomatic. What I mean by manaul is just that not auto.

see my other post for pic

I had the camera on the green button and used a 18-55mm lens. The pics are at the same time just different angles or distance.

here is a good one, might be a little dark.

The first one is in green mode no flash

same setting but taking with the *ist DS

Hi everyone
I just upgraded from a *ist DS to a K20. I am having a horrible time adjusting. I have to use the flash for any indoor shots regardless of the lighting. I adusted the ISO and that seemed to work a little better. The issue is dark photos inside and out.

Is ther any tut's for a novice?

Hi all

I have owed a *ist DS for the last 4 yrs. I originally bought it with the intention of learning all the manual functions. Well since the auto function took FANTASTIC pics and with life rushing around me I never did what I set out to do. I just purchased a K20 and I can't seem to find a happy medium with an auto function. If I don't use the flash on indoor shots they look as though they are taken in manual mode. It seems to be a light issue indoors and out. I changed the ISO settings and that seemed to help.

I have a new neice coming in a week so I need to be able to master photos without the flash blinding her.

Thanks for the help

Catt

Hi everyone

I have owned a Pentax *ist DS for 4 yrs and LOVE it. I just recently bought a K20 and need a little help. The learning curve is harder than I thought.
