Thank you all for your shared experiences. It will be an 11 day walking tour including many historic sites, countryside and villages, as well as the big cities at each end of the trip. I'll go with the 15 and 20-40, think about the 55-300. Just ordered a 15 today, better get practicing with it, and get used to my settings in general. Been a while since a trip like this. First one was in Peru, including a week's hike to Machu Picchu (not the Inca Trail) and I loved using the 16-45 and K200D. I've used the 18-135 on trips, great lens, but like yucatanPentax's experience, I think most images were in the lower half of the range.

thanks for your replies. i'd prefer auto focus as well, if possible, particularly for the 150-450.

Agree. The KP looks, layout, size, construction all were a great foundation to build from, why couldn't they improve on a good thing? Could be the Acord, Camry, Prius etc. of cameras. Saw the Zf ad yesteray, knocked my socks of.

Thank you for sharing your experience and thoughts. And the timing is perfect, I've spent way to much time over the last couple weeks going down one rabbit hole after another looking at mirrorless cameras, reviews and comparisons and not focusing on the great, underused gear I have. I've been lazy and need to get off my butt and shoot and not make up camera needs for the sake of window shopping. There is a lot of nice gear out there and I have been learning about it, but how much of it do I need for the style I shoot? My next cameras will likely be a K3 III or K1 II and maybe a used Nikon or Canon DSLR to add access to cheap lenses and a little diversity. The mirrorless cameras a impressive, powerful and small but I don't need one yet, maybe someday. I looked at a couple recently at a camera store. Nice gear but looking through the viewfinder definitely seemed artificial. Maybe in a twisted way I don't mind working a little for the focus. I started with my dad's Nikon F, manual focus was the only choice. Like others I say this with complete respect for the technology in mirrorless cameras and may get one someday, but for now need to get my focus back into learning my own gear, and have a long way to go just to do that.

yes, that's what will drive the decision. if i get the 16-50 i'll likely sell the 20-40. Appreciate you confirming the quality and providing the Ricoh overview.

Looking back at this helpful thread. I've been looking at used FF Nikon DSLRs, also partly to have access to a lot of used DSLR lenses at good prices. Have seen a number of used D810's, D750's, etc. Yesterday a very low use D850 came up at a pretty good price. They're getting tempting.

i have the 20-40 and highly recommend it. fairly compact, elegant looks, great operation and excellent images. they're all good. as others have said, depends on your needs. the 20-40 is my standard walk around lens.

Ricoh is on it, says the are working on getting the hood to me.
Yes, at $1299 it was a good price. I bought a refurbished K3 iii with it.
Kind of impulse, but went for it. Same when I bought the refurb 11-18.
