Just tried it on a K-5 with a Pentacon 30mm f/3.5 M42 lens (with continuous aperture). It works! lighting adjusts up to f16. Will be fun to try it out properly.
Thanks for the tip!

Run away!
I shot a wedding for a friend the other week using my K-5 and a GX-10 as backup. I felt a bit pressured into doing it as he was a friend and he was on a budget so I did it for free. I have shot a wedding as a second shooter before but never as the primary photographer. I made this very clear to the couple. I suspect most people see you have a DSLR and take nice photos so you can take wedding photos.
In total I spent more than three days working on the wedding. I made lists of potential photos and met with the bride and groom well in advance to discuss the exact plan of the day. I was at the rehearsals scouting and taking photos and making notes on lenses and iso and planning shots. I was on my feet from 11am to 11pm on the wedding day including dashing from location to location to be there before the bride arrives. It really is stressful trying to be in the right place at the right time to catch the key moments. Weddings are like express trains there is no stopping them to re do photos once they are started.
The hardest part of a wedding is organising people. I did arrange with the couple that the best man would also have a list of the people for the formal photos and his job would be to assist me in rounding people up. The best man was somewhat unreliable. So my advice is to take charge.
Another problem I faced was the multitude of other photographers for the formal shots. It was very difficult to get the groups to look JUST AT ME!. Once again being assertive and also discussing this with the bride and groom is probably sensible. Also try to manage expectations.
Also be aware that the wedding might not always follow the agreed plan. So be ready for unexpected events that you have to photograph.
I shot in RAW so took me pretty much a day to edit all the photos.
I'm glad I did it, it was an experience & I was happy with my work especially considering the challenges.
I didn't feel part of the wedding as a guest, I was supposed to be a guest and photographer. You cant be both and I was literally working the whole time.
Hope some of this helps!

Great photos Gibby love the eagle shots. I think my error was going for a cheap lens without doing any research on it. I was at a camera fair so was an impulse buy.

My pennies worth is be wary of mirror lenses. I find the mirror lens I have (Centon 500mm f8 ) frustratingly soft & lacking detail. I find it very difficult to get a decent photo out of it (It was cheap). Cropping the images from my Tamron 70 - 300mm gives much better photos (more detail). I've tried to use a kenko 1.7x auto teleconvertor with the tamron zoom (70 - 300mm) and the images lack detail and the autofocus is painfully slow. I'm also on the look out for a good wildlife lens but I cant spend too much so its been interesting reading your views.

Docrwm has many good points.
I had a go shooting basketball at my uni and the lighting was pretty poor I was shooting at iso 1600. I used a K5 the FA50/1.4 and a cheap (Huntar MC) manual 135mm at f2.8.
The FA50/1.4 worked pretty well but the auto focus was not perfect, I often missed the shot.
With the 135mm manual I tried to predict the action and set the focus in certain zones ready to fire when something exciting happened in the focus zone.
The shot below was with the FA50mm f1.4 http://www.flickr.com/photos/60074667@N00/6318249349/ |

Loving the photos so far, will have to start playing with extension tubes.
Silly question time, I have a Samsung GX-10 (K10D) when I use manual lenses (with extension tubes) and I use the pop up flash and reduce the power in the flash menu does it actually reduce the flash power? Or do I have to use an external flash?
Again shot with the TAMRON AF 70-300mm F/4-5.6 Di LD Macro |

Just received my DA-L 35 f/2.4, I't looks like its going to be a great lens. Cant wait to try it out properly. The DA-L 35/2.4 was pretty cheap & surprisingly light.

I used a tripod and bulb mode, held down for the duration of the fireworks I wanted in the shot. I Set the lens to a focus point (distance) using manual focus & turned of shake reduction (using a tripod). Experiment, I was adjusting aperture and iso after shots to try to get the "perfect" shot I wanted. This was taken with bulb mode and iso 200 aperture f6.7 tripod was low down and pointing up with the silouettes in view. |

Another vote for the inverter. I've found mine very useful, mine has a 5V usb socket too.

Another option is to ask the person in charge of lighting for a bit more light for the photos. Not always achievable though.
