Tamron SP AF70-200mm F2.8 Di LD IF Macro Asking Price
Reduced to 585.00 USD Item Location
Austin, Texas (United States) Item Description
For sale is a very nice copy of the respected Tamron SP AF70-200mm 2.8 Di LD Macro
Purchased off this forum, this lens is darned sharp with extremely good image quality. The macro function is well documented as excellent for this class. I've used it only a handful of times under dry conditions. The lens is very well kept, with only very minor use marks (no major scuffs). A really great lens, but I found that I'm not using it enough to keep it in the collection. Comes with Tamron lens caps, mounting ring/foot,original box and original soft case. The only issue with the lens is the hood has a crack that the prior owner superglued back into place. See photos. Hood mounts perfectly and there is no reduction of performance due to the hood crack. This is a great, great autofocus macro lens that has a very useful range. PM me for sample images taken with this lens!

Isn't that model everyone was anticipating last year? I'm sure it was expensive, I'm sorry to hear about the flaky performance.

PM replied to with thanks. This all metal lens isn't a lightweight so international shipping would be prohibitive at this very low price.
But it is a heck of a deal for someone in the US. The Vivitar S1 70-210 f3.5 version 1 has legendary image quality, full frame ready, and offers excellent macro capabilities. It is very well documented in this forum's lens review section. Check it out.
Thanks!

I've been off playing with film cameras for a couple of months and I clicked to see the latest posts on the K-3 in this thread. I think this takes the prize for the most off topic veer in the history of electronic forums! :)
Can someone say "Lock This Thread???"

Sent you a Private message RAART. It IS a Pentax K mount for any interested buyers. It works as-is on a film Pentax, and requires the black link guard to be removed for use on a Pentax DSLR. Removal is easy, non destructive and reversible. ---------- Post added 01-03-2014 at 07:35 AM ---------- Still available, so here is a bump for an excellent lens! ---------- Post added 01-03-2014 at 07:36 AM ---------- Still available, so a bump for an excellent lens!

I have totally given up on having packages shipped to my home. Fed Ex, UPS and especially USPS have a horrible track record delivering to my neighborhood. For some reason household deliveries seem to happen very LATE in the day and I think all the drivers just want Miller time to begin. I am lucky to work for a company that doesn't mind employees personal packages being delivered there. I've never once had a problem having stuff delivered to this business address.

This looks to be mostly left overs from someone who enlarged and developed their own prints. I guess you need to ask yourself if the person your buying for wants to actually do their own traditional photo prints, or if they're someone who might want to develop their film, scan it with a good scanner and let the camera shop make prints on pro equipment. I would go out on a limb here and say your friend might need more in the way of developing tanks, thermometers, graduated cylinders, chemical bottles, pipettes and stuff like that. Check out www.freestyle.biz for examples of stuff needed to develop negatives.

Vivitar Series 1 70-210mm f3.5 Zoom (Version 1) Asking Price
50.00 USD (REDUCED!) Item Location
Austin, Texas (United States) Item Description
For sale is a beautiful copy of the legendary Vivitar Series 1, version 1 built by Kiron. This one is in excellent optical and cosmetic condition with clean glass, snappy blades, smooth zoom with no creep, and smooth, well dampened focus. This lens shows only the slightest signs of careful use and looks to have been stored in its case most of its life. The only cosmetic issue is the Series 1 lens cap has some decayed case foam stuck to the outside surface ... needs some patience to soak or scrape it off. The lens cap works fine otherwise. This is a fully manual lens, with no autofocus or AE function.
Note: To use this lens with a modern DSL camera, the shutter linkage guard must be removed (three screws at the rear mount-easy) or Dremeled to properly mount. The sample photos below were taken with the guard removed. I remounted the guard for sale, as you see it in the photos below.
A legendary shooter with great contrast and rendition, a solid and vibrant macro, and a retro look that is awesome on a digital body! Are you the original owner of the item being sold?

What happens when I use a SMC A series lens on a K2 body and the lens is set to "A?" I recently put a SMCA 50 1.4 on a K2 body and I noted that the meter behaved differently between "A" and a manually set f-stop, with the "A" setting reading about 2 stops wider. I did not fire the camera for fear of initiating the apocalypse. I know using the A lens on a K2 body is okay as long as I select manual f-stops, but what would happen if I left the lens on automatic? Would it just shoot wide open?
Just a curiosity, sorry if this is common knowledge.

The thing is ... the helmets are NOT that much bigger than a real 67 body! At least that how it feels after walking with one for a few miles.

The Kiev 88 is a noisy camera, but no louder than a Pentax 645. I've never had either of my two jam. However, the real trick is that the camera is NOT fool-proof, you can damage it if you fail to do one important thing: You MUST wind to the next frame immediately after you take a shot. This is called cocking the mechanism, and if you DON'T cock the shutter you can damage the camera when changing shutter speeds. I understand this was the case on the original Hassy 1600 cameras as well. You will know the camera is not cocked because you have no image through the viewfinder until you do.
Jamming has never been a problem on my two bodies. Not saying it's a myth, but I have not had any problems.
The CZJ 80 mm lens is a better constructed lens than the Arsat 80 lens. They have very similar properties, but the Zeiss is very well constructed while the Arsat is all plastic. They both take good pictures, but if you can swing the Zeiss, it's the way to go.

Hi, Todd: To my limited knowledge, the Carl Zeiss Jena glass is every bit as good as western Zeiss glass of the same vintage. I can't comment directly between the lenses, as I've never shot with Hasselblad, but I have four CZJ lenses, the 50mm Flektocon f4, the 80mm Biometar f2.8, the 120 Biometar f2.8, the 180 Sonnar 2.8 and I can shoot all day with these lenses. They do really have pixie dust and in my opinion have that 3D rendering and micro-contrast we currently associate with the FA limiteds. They are big and heavy lenses, full metal construction and they have the fit and finish of Takumars. The 180mm Sonnar comes from a pre-WWII design and the lens is about the same size as the camera body. But the bokeh and rendering is really, really wonderful. The 80mm is normal for the 6x6 format and it is just sweet in regard to size and performance. The 120mm is a portrait lens and the 50 is a standard wide. I can tell you I bought all four of these lenses for what a used 500 c body with a back and normal lens would have cost.
There is a lens called the Arsat 30mm fisheye that is legendary in regards to extreme fish eye. It is very closely compared to the 5000 dollar Hassy fish eye in terms of image quality, and only costs 250-300 on the used market. People comment that they bought a Kiev 88 CM simply to use this fisheye, it's so good.
In regard to quality control on the cameras, I wouldn't be afraid to buy new from known dealers who advertise new cameras that have been "CLAed". Again, you can buy from a place like ARAX camera (they are customer oriented and custom assemble your specific kit) or you can buy from several big volume ebay sellers in the Ukraine. Search for Kiev 88 on ebay and look for terms like "New, CLAed by Hartblei." Hartblei is another business that rebuilds these cameras and sells to middle men dealers. It's just easier to buy from an ebay dealer with Paypal and make sure the new camera has been inspected and CLAed. A new KIEV 88 body with a spot TTL viewfinder, waist level finder, 2-120 film backs, and a Arsat 80mm 2.8 lens will cost about 450 dollars from a dealer. The ARAX kits are much more expensive, but they basically custom build the cameras for you. But whatever you do, I'd discourage buying a used body off of ebay. Older used cameras haven't been rebuilt and could have significant problems.
Last note - if you're from North America, buying from the Ukraine is a bit scary. The seller will tell you 14-21 days, but that is very optimistic. Mine took a full month to arrive, and I would tell anyone to give their shipment 4 to 5 weeks to arrive before freaking out. But it arrived very well packed an in perfect shape.
